Huge ships and the Aturi cluster, plus the heroes in it

A couple of friends and I have been playing this campaign: http://dockingbay416.com/campaign/for a few weeks now. We've gone through half of the missions and have had blast!

We want to run a string of missions where the Raider is harassing the Rebels, with a mission at the end where we try to destroy the Raider.

I was wondering, before I go through the process of figuring and play testing a set of rules for huge ships: has anyone already created something for using huge ships?

There's rules in HotAC for an allied Transport, but that doesnt have enemy AI.

A raider or Gozanti mission could be awesome for Aturi cluster missions. I hope someone with a better brain than me has the nouse to figure it out.

That's my goal. I want to do something where the rebels have to find and destroy the raider. If they mess it up, maybe the players will find themselves escorting a transport fleeing the refueling station that they captured...

You might also try a "protect the gravwell generators" mission, where the raider's movements are prescripted to reach the board edge on a certian turn, where it escapses and the PCs lose. Ignoring the raider's dial (or having a simplified, energy/speed AI that doesnt worry about turning) makes coming up with an AI for it much easier.

Indeed. I think that taking the raider's dial out of the equation will make the job massively easier. Capital ships don't really 'react' to starfighters - not by shifting course, anyway - which means we can assume a certain 'flat' allowance of energy.

I would have it set up in one corner and head for the opposite corner, and if it disengages it counts as 'escaping'.

Then it just becomes a case of setting a sequence of energy, action and attack priorities, which can be debated more sensibly: is the priority for energy recovering shields or powering the guns, and is it 'better' to spend energy to amp the main weapons or fire the hardpoint guns?

Yes, that means if you can get behind the raider you're in a safe blind spot, but there are presumably still fighters flying around so you're not exactly "safe".

It might also be worth thinking about large ship collisions; when a capital ship and fighters are on the same side, should there be some provision to minimize fratricidal collisions?

Really love the campaign. Looking to do a few "open-ended" co-operative skirmishes, with the players building a 'from-scratch' pilot with 100xp or so (to the point that you're fundamentally better than anything possible in the normal game).

That's an awesome idea! Then it's just a matter of "programming" energy distribution and targets to shoot, which should be easy enough.

I've been working on rules to add a scum mission arc to HotAC, and I also started working conceptually on some scenarios which would add an Imperial Raider into the game as well. The main stumbling block is that so far I haven't found a thread for people to collaborate on making new missions and AIs for the campaign, and Josh Derksen has been lukewarm about adding more stuff.

I think I'll make a thread for this sort of collaboration and post the stuff I've worked on to date.

Apologies all for thread necromancy, but I've just started looking into and printing up some of the Aturi Cluster material, and I was wondering if there's any further indication on the horizon of Raider missions? I think it would be awesome fun to have both the Raider and the CR90 get a mission or two. Full Epic Aturi!

(I know, we have GR-75 missions, but it's just not the same....)
