Turbolaser Reroute Circuits(spend evade token to change a dice to crit or 2 hits

By chriscook, in Star Wars: Armada

Do you guys feel that putting TRC on 2 Whales with Akbar and gun team is better than Enhanced Armements. I feel with 5 dice being rolled that a blank will always be rolled or an extra accuracy that u don't want, so i can now change that to 2 hits which seems better then rolling an extra dice Does the math back this up? Also by round 3 i will never use evades again so they become a waste.

Thanks

I like the Reroute on the NebB over the Space Guppy myself. AFmk2 can take ECM, so it can still use its Evade token even if it takes an Accuracy result, while the NebB can't so it has a better chance of not being able to use the Evade anyway.

Yes. I finally got around to trying TRC (is that the acronym we're going with?) a few days ago, after having been pretty ambivalent when I first saw the card, and I'm completely sold. I use them on a different ship, so YMMV, but the guaranteed ability to turn that blank, that extra accuracy, or even that single hit to a double or a crit--whichever the situation calls for!--is amazing. If you're in a spot where you need to hang onto the evade, that means you're in a good spot anyway, so don't worry about it.

The confluence of factors come together to make it extremely flexible, and the most useful when you need it the most. At least on the couple games I've played with it. Also goes a long way toward upping the reliability of those notoriously swingy red dice.

This is a great upgrade to take on any ship with multiple Evade defense tokens, such as the MC30 or the Corvette. If you run TRC on an MC30 under the Foresight title with Walex Blissex & Electronic Countermeasures you have the flexibility to use the evades to create guaranteed hits while ensuring you can still burn your an unused token targeted by Accuracy. And with Blissex you can use the tokens in both defense and offense every round knowing you can pull one token back after it is spent twice in one round.

I think they will make Corvettes into very reliable sources of damage. You will really be able to tax larger ships from range. Reliably being able to spit three damage off 2 dice out of the front arc will be great for softening up ISDs, MC80s, and Vics while staying out of range of their haymaker shots. Those double damage faces can add up fast on ships that can't Evade.

It's probably my favorite turbolaser upgrade. I plan on using it + Needa on my ISD-II. Unless you roll only doubles it will be at least 1 and often 2 extra damage, and it guarantees a crit when you need it. It also forces you to think tactically about sacrificing your defense for that, so its not a brainless option which I like.

I preferred x17 on the guppy with TLR going on the corvettes. It a nice upgrade.

Blissex is a one-use card:

"When you activate, you may discard this card to recover 1 of your discarded defense tokens."

That makes the card very good, rather than broken :)
