Nanok of the blade & Thorn questions

By amadou2, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

We are playing a RtL campaign, and we have doubts regarding these 2 characters;

Nanok: Does he start with 2 armor PLUS 2 because of his ability (=4) and then builds up to 7 (5+2) if he ever gets to 5 melee trait dice, or is that a start with armor 2 + max. 3 because of BONUS melee trait dice (be it black, silver or gold)?

Thorn: Can he finish his "teleport" move ON objects like coin piles, glyphs, chests etc. or does an "empty" space mean "no token at all" space?

Maybe in english the text on the cards is self-explaining but (unfortunately) we have the 2 expansions in italian serio.gif

Nanok: Yes, he starts at 4 armor, and if he adds a black dice he goes to 5, he adds two dice he goes to 6, etc etc.

Thorn: Yes he can. Those things do not count as a space being occupied, except for the purposes of Trap (space) cards.

From the FAQ:

Empty Spaces
Chests, Glyphs, Potions, Coin Piles, and Rune Keys do not count as empty spaces for the purposes of playing traps. They do not block line of sight, and figures may move through as normal.

That's one of those "debatable" FAQ rulings, since it allows the OL to make those tokens inaccessible using Crushing Block. Because of Crushing Block, "Empty for traps" and "Empty for ending movement" cannot be the same.

I think you are misreading.

They specifically do NOT count as empty spaces for the purposes of playing traps (so cannot be crushing blocked, which triggers when a hero moves into an empty space). And they can be moved through 'as normal' which indicates you can end your move on them.

Thundercles, you're probably thinking of the previous ruling on "empty spaces," which was pretty awful. I believe the current one is pretty good.
