Alliance Free News:Imperial war engine grinding to a halt in the Dellalt system

It's so sad what non-loyal journalistic integrity has descended to.

But they were a fun couple of games, but I played them pretty stupidly. I learned about some of the new-fangled Rebel toys - or, rather, I learned about Ackbar. I had been vaguely aware of what he did since Sullust, but only yesterday (day before, really) really learned the broader implications.

At Sullust itself, both Lyraeus and I were pretty knackered after three rounds of swiss. I had the benefit of objective (Fire Lanes), and the fact that he was so busy talking to by-standers that I was able to focus what little brainspace I had left on the game at hand. Also, he threatened to take the ImpStar home, leaving me with a rotten pickle in my hands. So, I also had the edge of incentives.

He then drove his MC80 straight at me, allowing me to Glad Box the front arc of his main ship. The Glads died, but they died well. The ImpStar barely saw any action (other than a shrimo frigate strafing its sides.) All in all, I think the game was largely decided in set-up and it was a train wreck from there (for Lyraeus that is).

Yesterday was a completely different affair, and I got my clock cleaned. It will be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming tournament (10/25). I tend to do much better against him during tournaments, and I am definitely on notice. Also, it'll be back to Wave 1 for us, probably for the last time in a tournament. We both know one another's tricks at this point, so we'll see what happens.Thankfully, he always underestimates the Power of the Dark Side.

I think that winning a medal will fill some empty space in his soul, but I shall work dilligently to maintain that emptiness and add yet another medal to my growing collection.

That is, unless we get an odd number of players, and I'm left to just TO. I'll still rule in favor of the Empire, however.

Good job calling it correctly Alliance, not Rebel. I don't play Rebels, I play as the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Calling us rebels would be validating the incorrect Imperial propaganda.

The official title really should be 'Alliance of Rebels, Terrorists, Spice Smugglers, and Disgruntled Senators for the Recycling of the Failed Corrupt Regime.'

I'm kind of worried, because all I'm seeing are Rebel victories now that they have the MC-80 MC-30...

Those Ackbar dice are much more brutal than I had anticipated. It really means that we have to change our approach to dealing with them.

"Let the Wookie Win" is also a valid choice.

Let me fix that for you: Empire of Galactic Corruption, Oppression, Anti-nonHuman Racism, Slavery, Corporate Cronyism, . . . ah hell, I don't have time to finish this, I'm probably only going to live another 50 years.

"Capping the T" on the lead ship of the conga line is a definitely viable strategy, though it isn't easy to do. Might be the biggest new Imperial use for the Raider?

I'm telling you, Rhymer ball and Boosted Comms. Get the ball out there fast and start lobbing punches early and often. You can out range Ackbar before gunning in for the kill. Maybe try this out as a counter:

ISD II

-Motti

-Boosted Comm

-Gunnery Team

-ECMs

-SW-7 Ions

Glad I

-Demolisher

-Ordnance Experts

-APTs

-Engine Techs

3x Bombers

Jumpmaster

2x Interceptors

Flanking from the rear is a good option. Another is to hit the trailing end of the conga line.

That was pretty much what I tried to do in both of the battles that went so sideways for me. You've warned me before about chasing the opponent's ships, because of the shoot-move;shoot-move dynamic of Armada.

I guess chasing the enemy's ship only works when you're playing the Most Wanted objective with an Imperial I-class star destroyer with the Devastator title and Vader as Commander chasing down a CR-90 Corvette with Tantive IV title, and both Raymus Antilles and Leia Organa aboard.

Sure, that's 156 points against 57 points, but the Rebel player was cheating. The CR-90 doesn't have two officer slots.

Typical rebels - always cheating.

You could go the reverse and try and stop the line that way. The issue with that is that the opponent if they realize what you are doing will turn away from you so starting in the middle of the board is a good idea
