New Era Aces

By DirbYh, in X-Wing

What I'm half-expecting the new Aces pack to be:

First dual faction aces pack.

1x Alternate paint T-70 (orange-black)

1x Alternate paint TIE/FO (red stripe)

Thoughts?

On one hand it is not unlikely because it is easy to get this licensed, on the other the demand isn't there, yet. The aces packs both came after a bit of feedback and experiences were collected to tweak and buff the included ships, TIE/fo and T-70 both haven't even been released as standalones!

The red stripe TIE is a different model though. Only complaint.

I can guarantee you that's not the new aces packs. They're much better.

Why are you speculating a new aces pack for the TFA ships awhile? We only just got half of them a month ago and theres plenty of other ships that could use and aces pack or some equivalient like the defender and bomber or the xwing, ywing and z95's

We have new era aces. What we need are more new era named pilots.

I've done some alt art cards with Blue Ace as "Cerebus", Red Ace as "Scarlet Comet, and Zeta Ace as Kamille "Beau" Gundan. There's probably too few named pilots in the films (due to the script writers being lazy).

There is no time like the present for speculation, and that month was an eternity ago as relativity stretches the seconds ever further from the horizon of the next release.

I want them to include Nora Wexley as a y-wing pilot :)

Aces packs come for ships with issues - the Interceptor and A-wing needed help, while the B-wing was solid, but was lacking in variety.

On the basis they haven't actually finished releasing the current ships, it's a little premature to speculate on just what format their aces will come in. C'mon, do brand new ships need it as much as Defenders and E-wings? :P

Extremely unlikely they will ever do a cross faction aces pack. All it would do is piss off the players who only collect one faction.

Not neccessarily. Work on the new core has probably started a long while back, when minor detail as this weren't an issue, yet.

Yes speculation is fun but we only just got the TFA stuff and I personaly would like more focus on the old stuff for aces packs or an even more likely option a 2nd expansion for each of the older fighters would be cool with new pilots and upgrades

Just cross out Horton's name and write hers in since she replaced him at Endor.

If they release an Aces pack that has ships from two different factions in it I will light some **** on fire.

At the same time, it would stimulate players to collect more than one faction, which does appear to be a goal of the sales model.

Such tactics are more likely to get me to stop playing the game than they are to get me to play a 2nd faction.

Zeta Gundam reference? :P

But in all seriousness, we know there are more named pilots in The Force Awakens. For example, Ello Asty.

No Scum and Villainy love in this thread? With the new MOV rules S&V takes a huge hit as their smaller ships truly need point adjustments (StarViper and perhaps the Syck). The Starviper is too expensive for what it offers. The Syck is versitile but hardly played because of its health structure 2 hull is a direct hit killer.

The next aces should be Scum before any other faction. Scum will be taking a hit in the next round of tourneys.

Lue.

I think it's likely that, much like last time, the next time they decide to do Aces, all factions will get an Aces pack in close proximity to each other.

Some people don't want to like anything.

So.. How many writers, anywhere, name every single no name character? How many enemy soldiers in any movie ever have a name for their character?

Isn't it more likely that FFG wasn't given any names when they were creating the product, factoring in that product creation takes time, and the powers that be are being super secret hush hush about anything until closer to the release. We only got Ello Asty's name from force friday toy release.

We will get more names pilots. Be patient.

It's not meant to get you to actually PLAY the other faction, just to buy the ships. How many Imp-only players have 1-3 Starvipers sitting around that they got for Autothrusters, Accuracy Correctors, etc.? The sales model is clearly designed to try to get you to buy at least one of every ship, regardless of what you actually use. This does not make FFG villains, it makes them good businessmen. They are under no obligation to just give you whatever you want at little/no cost to you.

I have seen a lot of comments lately (not just about Star Wars), that show people expect brand new properties to have the same level of content when they are released as properties with decades of multi-media development, and that is just idiotic in the extreme.

The terms "villains" and "good businessmen" are not mutually exclusive.

Not to mention that the EU had more than 30 YEARS to bane and create assorted characters to pilot ships. The new era doesn't have a single movie yet.

Most of the aliens/humans in the OT had names in the script or for their costumes (4-LOM "For love of money", Barada, Klaatu, Nikto, etc...), so EU aside they're quite possibly being lazy.
