The most important question: Which target lock letters?

By Rippy, in X-Wing

My son likes using "U", so when he takes the TL action he can say "I'm Target Locking U". It was funny the first few times. After dozens of times, its a little old. Teenagers.

Anyway, a while back i realized I had enough for two complete sets from A to X, so I painted the back sides black and keep then banded together in pairs in a compartment in my token tray. I never have to worry about which letters I'm using, I just grab a set and I know they're unique.

Never use jj.

Along these same lines, x-wing falls into 2 types of people. Those who assemble the manuvering dial with the female half on top, and those who assemble it wrong with the male half on the top :)

As an egalitarian i don't have a preference what ever part is best suited to do the job gets the job.

I have to wonder about using the male peg on the cutout half of the dial, it's got to put more insertion stress if the female peg is punching out when you put the cutout half in place.

Never use jj.

But my initials are JJ (James J, please call me JJ). Almost worth buying an Agressor for it IMO!!!

Only one that uses their initials?

VADAR APPROVES!

Our local bomber swarm pilot has a tendancy to spell things out with target locks.

That said, there's something extremely satisfying at looking at a potential target with various four-letter words laid out next to it - usually just before it eats four assault missiles.

I glued on pics to the regular tokens so that I can tell which are mine. I even got pictures of Luke, Vader, Garven, Dutch, etc.

I've since made some more for Scum and added in generic Rebel and Imperial icons. I just found an image off Google, sized it in MS Word, printed, cut, and used a glue stick.

So the "Wedgie" is the most feared token to appear on the mat?

Well, I play Imperials most of the time, so not many people get to see it, really. Also, most people can't recall what Wedge looks like, so it doesn't really work. I do have a hard time with Wedge and Dutch, myself. Dutch has the gold on his helmet, which is the easiest way to tell them apart.

I have all my target locks in a dish, and tend to use the first matching pairs i can find. Kinda boring really.

I use. BB C. Because you know.

I use top of alphabet (A-M) for rebels, lower alphabet (N-Z) for imperials, and doubles for Scum.

For me PP is the best. I love putting PP on my enemies!
