Another engaged question

By Ryu, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

On stackoverflow there is a question in regards to the engaged "range" (http://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/69759/can-one-force-jump-into-engaged/69974#69974). There I saw a link to the engaged range question here:

From what I read there the overall impression is that engaged is a sub range of short so to say.

If someone can move mulitple range bands at once, does "engage" then count as a range band by itself? (thus you could enter engaged without another maneuver)?

You must expend a maneuver to go from Engaged to Short, or from Short to Engaged. Please read the excellent post by my friend (and player in several of my PbPs) awayputurwpn here.

Exactly. Although the question is if you can move more than 1 range band in one maneuver (example force jump with the ability to go up to medium or even long distance with 1 maneuver) if it is possible to use that to go from for example medium to engaged in one maneuver or if you ahve to explicitely spend one maneuver to go into engaged then.

In answer to your example a character using Force Leap with the correct upgrades can move from medium to engaged, no extra maneuver is required.

Note that it is a maneuver to engage with anything or anyone, but disengaging as a maneuver is only something you do with an enemy. When you're engaged with anyone or anything that isn't threatening you, you can move freely within short range, or out to medium range from the object, as a maneuver.
