Same as the last set of maps except we're losing Moisture Farm and gaining Mos Eisley Cantina. I'm really surprised they kept Ord Mantell Junkyard. How do you think this will affect the meta? Very little? Does anyone have a PDF scan of Mos Eisley Cantina?
New Maps Announced
Time to buy Twin Shadows.
Not a pdf, but this is useful if you don't have your set up sheet handy.
Mmm; I'm looking for PDF scans in order to make vinyl game mats. I have all of the Core and Wave 1 PDFs, but none of the Twin Shadows and Wave 2 PDFs.
Anyway. I think these maps do very little to curb the dominance of 4x4 in the meta.
Both missions are still very movement based, and I don't think either will give a serious edge to either player. With the layout, it is likely both players will score 10 points with Battlefield Engineering, but then it is just up to killing the other side. I can see that favoring Vader or RGC lists. While you can get points more frequently with Drinks and Deals, it is a low amount, and you're likely going to have to either sacrifice attacks or stay put to accomplish that. This again favors Vader or Chewbacca - park the tank in the Cantina and you're going to have to kill him to get the win.
I think that JPG is high enough resolution that you can easily print it out.
Killing Vader and Chewbacca isn't that difficult. And 4x4 can secure 3 of the 4 mechanical devices on Battlefield Engineering in the first round, preventing the opponent from scoring any mission VP's. Ord Mantell Junkyard might be the only map that 4x4 doesn't have a distinct advantage on, but even then you will be so firmly packed into close combat that Protector and Vengeance are guaranteed and Blast will be disincentivized.

There are two big differences between Smuggled Goods and Battlefield Engineering that will keep lists like 4x4 from essentially being unbeatable by other lists on that mission. Battlefield Engineering caps at 20 points but it's more likely that a single player will only get 10 points from it. Getting the objectives will help but they won't win the game by themselves. Secondly, you don't pick up the McGuffins until the end of the round. This gives the slower team the opportunity to prevent an Officer enhanced Royal Guard from sprinting to the objective, picking it up, and running out of engagement range during the first round.

Interesting points. A 4x4 will definitely be able to challenge all of the objectives turn 1. But without the ability to pick them up during the turn, will that make them vulnerable to being picked off piecemeal? I've only played against 4x4 once, but the real problem I faced with it was the concentration of them amongst my Rebels (I play a Focused Rebel Blast list).

Also good points. I've found it harder to kill tanks with the Rebel Blast list, but I can see the Stuns and high damage output of RGs countering the tanks well.

Where is this from? And where can I findmore scans like this??
I may be missing something but why does the Battlefield Engineering scenario cap at 20? Isn't there 4 components each worth 10 points?
It seems like each of these maps has a control scenario and and destroy scenario so the 4x4 is still going to be nasty because of how much health the guards have. I thought about trying to make a really mobile list but that may not work if I need to survive in the location I get to for a while.
I'm definitely glad they took out any scenarios that someone can win in the first round though.

When two figures carrying components are adjacent, one of them can use an Interact action to combine the components to score 10 points.

Ahhh that makes so much more sense. Thanks! I read the interact and discard as different actions and wondered if there was a strategy to "passing" the component off or something. So basically you can at least deny 10 VP's in this scenario by picking up one component. Hopefully that helps a smaller but tankier list play a little defense.

Yeah, a slow list with Vader may not be able to score an objective but if Vader gets a component it helps to force an engagement. Forcing engagements is what I think one of the goals of objectives should be.

3x Officer
2x Royal Guard
That Vader list is very good. I still have my reservations that it is capable of winning Worlds though... However, this new map set might make that possible.
Vader will still be stun fodder ...so i can seriously predict that that list will not win wolds except if all 4/4 and rebelblast players switch to vader....
I think the Vader list has the potential to perform better than you think. Might not win World's, but it will definitely knock out some 4x4's along the way.
Honestly, I think 4x4 needs a tweak to include 3 dice attacks to win World's.

I don't think so. A Royal Guard has to deal damage AND has to roll a spare surge to actually stun Vader (2 black dice + foresight).

4x4 does get some 3 dice attacks. When your friends die beside you, you get focused.
Yes; I know that. I won a Regionals with 4x4. I mean consistent 3 dice attacks. Ideally, none of your Royal Guards die.
