Looks like FFG is flip flopping on rulings. Great I wonder what reversals people are going to demand now.
New FAQ (XI-7 Ruling reversed)
I need to go through it all myself but here's a link for the lazy:

No linky for the lazies? Do you realize how many more clicks you have caused with this?
Cruel Scottie is cruel.
omfg!
Ninja Tarkin more like!
What was their original stance, and had they publicly stated sometimes aside from this? From the way I read the card, this FAQ clarification makes sense, even if it does suck.
Looks like they confirmed the stacking ships issue that Mr L brought up too.
XI-7 seems like the only major change, with a few simple clarifications on the order things happen.
That does make me interested in taking XI-7s again though, particularly on Large ships.
Oh jeez !! That's very annoying

There was a fairly lengthy thread on the issue, with an email from FFG resolving the ruling the other way.
Well. . . Nebulon-B's are going to sell out in some places. . .
Wow, XI7 vs AP reversed...thats going to change a lot of things up
Hmmmmmm thinking about this. . . Assault Frigates are now slightly in trouble. . .
XI-7: "Even if the defender is equipped with Advanced Projectors, XI7 Turbolasers prevents the defender from suffering more than one damage in total on hull zones other than the defending hull zone. For example, if an attack deals four damage, a defender with Advanced Projectors must suffer at least three damage on the defending hull zone; the fourth damage can be suffered on any hull zone."
Either ruling made one Upgrade Card trump a similarly priced Upgrade Card. Both XI7 and Advanced Projectors both try to modify damage allocation.
The latest ruling must be a balancing adjustment between Rebel and Imperial fleets.
It's probably for the best.
Yet more reason to take electronic countermeasures on anything even remotely expected to see the major arc of an enemy line.
If they updated the text on the XI-7 Turbolasers just a little bit, then the intent would be clear and we'd avoid future confusion.
... if they would just make the amended XI-7s available for individual purchase at a reasonable rate, I'm sure it would go a long way towards improving the community response
. For purely altruistic reasons I mention this, mind you, and not so I can buy a bunch of XI-7s. Of course.

Move...away...from the pipe. You're a young man Lyr! Don't let this line of thinking ruin your LIFE!!!
Tragedy averted gents...move along...move along.
Glad they did. This "new" ruling is the correct one

The ambiguity allowed them to reverse rulings as they see fit without actually errat'ing anything, so they make like the ambiguity on the matter.

I don't know Dano. . . With ships now pumping out 7ish damage in an attack XI7 Turbolasers were going to make a comeback. With this new ruling however an ISD 2 with no tokens and Devastator can take out a MC80 in one shot. Sure it is a great roll but it can die. Now the MC30 has been neutered as well. It's saving grace was it's shields. . . Now it will have to fear long range shots as much as close range if not more. . . This has HUGE implications and in my opinion really hurts the rebels which relied on their defensive capabilities.
We are not all as good as shmitty when it comes to driving ships so some of us used the Projectors to let us be a bit more aggressive. I predict that XI7 Turbolasers will be on many an Imperial ship. . .
Gee, what a swing we've been on with these two cards.
I'm going to say this is a non-change for everyone except the guy who's pushing three gups around.
(Cut to Steve throwing his gups across the room.)
Yeah the Imperials really needed so additional help didn't they
AFII's are really in trouble now!!!
Engage conspiracy mode = maybe they had a stack of Neb expansions they couldn't shift.

And of course the people who were auto-including them on MC80!
For me it means I have to consider XI7 on everything that can take them because the Ackbar/Gup/MC80/EA/AP thing is so scary.
