What would be an expansion you'd skip?

By patrickmahan, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I'd skip anything with First Order stormtroopers. I'd definitely buy anything with Clone Wars-era battle droids and/or clone troopers.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or if people like this actually exist.

However, I am shying away from buying anything from Episode VII until I see it. Remember when Episode I was anounced and how it actually looked good? The trailer had a space battle, a lightsaber fight and some imagery that reminded us of classic Star Wars. Then we saw it. Oops. I'm not saying that Episode VII is going to be bad, but we've all been fooled before. I have patience.

I have no patience and total faith in Disney on this one. It's worth FAR too much as a franchise and they have enough money and time to make sure it's right. If they released a Force Awakens set with the characters from it tomorrow I would buy it. Hell I would even pay outlandishly for it!

Episode 1 hurt my feelings. Lol however Jinn/Kenobi vs Maul may be the best lightsaber battle ever.

I will be buying every expansion. Even a Jar Jar Binks expansion---- just so I can melt down and destroy the figure.

Oh come on! A while back we had a topic about this, we all agreed that their should be a Jar Jar expansion so that we could add the figure to others, Vader beheading him, him being trampled by Weiss, etc. Be creative!

Ill be honest I do tend to get most figure expansions twice or three times depending on if I think I could run them in Skimish, I am getting 3 sets of wookies just cause. But I would probably only get 1 ewok expansion pack same goes with any characters that aren't combat related i.e the emperor . It mostly just that I don't think they are really suited to battlefield combat. Any big or small box expansion though I will be happy to get :D

The consensus on the boards is that you may use the hired guns as an open group in any campaign (limited to one regular or elite version).

I don't know where you're finding this consensus, but it's wrong. :P Read the rule sheet that comes in the pack - it clearly states you're allowed one of each. Specifically, the constraining factor is the cards included in a single copy of the pack - you're limited to those cards no matter how many figures you have. (Of course if you only buy one pack and want to run two groups, you'll have to use proxy figures/coins/etc for the second group, but that should be fine since this is campaign we're talking about and there's no such thing as a campaign tournament.)

I would probably skip a Stormtrooper pack if they did that... oh wait..... :P

However I can see why they did it but i am not interested, the only thing I want is the Command Card Stealth Tactics from that box and I am hoping it will come in some other box later, maybe The Alliance Smuggler?

I would also skip any Clone Wars era packs, for example "Clone Troopers".

Possible exception might be Qui-Gon, Darth Maul, I would probaly also skip any big boxs that come from that era.

I skipped Weiss and will skip the Stormtrooper pack. I may also skip the Bantha. We aren't big fans of the giant vehicles/creatures and prefer people scale battles. The stormtroopers are just too redundant to buy for just command cards and a map.

-My 4 year old son (he already wants to play.....but is a bit too young....and maybe our daughter will like it as well someday)

Simply play skirmish without objectives or command cards. If you go easy on him it should be pretty easy for a 4 year old, I would think. (Maybe also don't use abilities, I'm not sure on this one.)

I skip most rebel expansions.

I don't really play skirmish, so I just go for agenda cards.

The exception will be the rebel smugglers as they will be a cheap ally for rebels to actually bring without adding too much to imperial optional deployment.

No Rebels TV show stuff for me. Otherwise bring it on!

Not sure if anything would excite me more for this game than a Rebels based release or ewoks lol.

I'll probably skip on the bantha rider, at least for a while. Certainly not an instant buy.

I'd probably pass on some sort of vehicle expansion, like another ATST or some new hover vehicle like we're seeing in RtH.

Might pass on a creature only pack.

I'm not sure I would totally skip anyway, just take longer to buy certain ones. Weiss and the storm troopers for example, I'll get them at some point, but not until after I get main characters, and more scum units.

I'm skipping the Stormtroopers, I got plenty. I'd rather get more Hired Guns or Wookies.

If they release grossly immodest female figurines, like slave Leia, I'll skip that.

My sole reason for getting them is PAINTING them - and ideally, either an ever-popular subject or something I can put my own spin on. Stormtroopers? Yes please. But then, C-3PO and Artoo? *Yawwwnn*... unless Threepio is BRONZE and his buddy is R2-KT! So, it's more a question of priority. I'll probably have them all eventually.

See now, that's just weird. Pretty much the a absolute opposite of a lot of OTHER folks. Shows that everything has a market. Hell, I'd love a JarJar; he'd be fun to do!

Jar Jar was really funny in Star Wars Miniatures. He could redirect fire, basically ensuring everything went ass up when he was around. ;)
