What would be an expansion you'd skip?

By patrickmahan, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Make up an expansion no matter how big or small, including figure packs, or even choose one thats out now that you will skip.

Out now:

Bantha Rider (Massive AND Habitat? Way too limited.)

Stormtroopers (Have enough)

Han Solo (comes in core and not used enough)

Chewbacca (comes in core and not used enough)

Rebel Troopers and Saboteurs (comes mostly in core and not used enough)

R2 and 3PO (comes in expansion and not used enough)

Kayn Somos (comes in expansion and agenda cards are week.)

Possible future:

Star Wars Rebels themed expansion(s) (Not interested)

Ewok figure pack (Not interested)

For me, I will probably skip the hired guns and smugglers.

I skipped rebel saboteurs. probably the bantha rider too. I don't play that much skirmish. so i guess the smuggler and hired guns might be a miss, as well as the stormtroopers.

I just don't want it to get to big and messy like X-wing. I stopped as soon as i had all the movie ships, Kyle katarn and Dash's ship. got too messy and not star warsy

I would not skip a Bespin expanison... just sayin.

but, much of the expanded universe stuff doesn't interest me a whole lot. I hate to say it, but the personal tank in the hoth expansion doesn't peak my interest a whole lot. The wampas do, of course. I understand that IA is slightly off canon since the heroes weren't in any movies, but I really need at least something from a movie in each expansion. (I'm glad that the races are all fairly canon)

also, omg I'm so pumped for the bantha rider expansion. :)

heehehhehe

Habitat only applies in Campaign doesn't it? So they're fine for skirmish (and good in appropriate settings in Campaign).

I don't plan on skipping any expansion. Even if I don't play Skirmish (although I may in the future, who knows).

Skipping twin shadows most likely, not enough content for both campaign and skirmish for price tag, unless you really like heavy troopers it can be skiped

As a campaign player, hired guns and the smuggler expansion are both great additions!

The consensus on the boards is that you may use the hired guns as an open group in any campaign (limited to one regular or elite version). They add more variety to the Scum faction. Great for deploying early on when threat is low. Great theme for some maps (especially Twin Shadows missions).

And the smuggler is a low threat ally that the rebel heroes may deploy. Majority of players (including myself) continue to struggle with deploying 10+ costed deployment cards as the disadvantage of giving the Empire player a large amount of threat seems to outweigh the advantage of bringing an expensive deployment card to missions.

The only reason I would consider skipping an expansion was if it didn't include new cards (command, upgrade, etc.) and new maps. But I don't think there's any history of FFG releasing expansions without those things. I soplan on getting at least 1 of everything my options are open, whether I want to play Skirmish or Campaign. Now as far as duplicate expansions, there's few I would want more than 1 of. Maybe Wookies and Rebel Sabs.

I don't think I'll skip any expansion. FFG has done a great job with everything so far. Unless quality slips, I'm all in.

The Ewok and Gungun picknic Funtime Jamboree expansion

The Holiday Special Expansion with real Bea Arthur ACTION!

This I would buy. Get me some itchy, lumpy, Art Carney and 4 Armed Harvey Korman action. I want it all!

I got mine on Amazon for like $30. That's like 2 heroes and 8 bad guys for $30. Certainly above par for what we normally pay for one figure (i.e.- any hero - $15/ 1 figure.)

This is a required expansion for Skirmish until FFG changes which maps are in rotation.

Yes! Give me a Bea Arthur model!

Quoted for Truth!!!!!

I skipped Weiss. Didn't really want his agenda set for the campaign, didn't really want his model for skirmish, and thought I'd get more mileage out of another Rebel Sabs pack.

But that's it, so far. :)

Yes! Harvey Korman should hav the ability Bantha Suprise - Wookiees in line of sight to him gain +2 damage while attacking the Bantha Rider. "Stir, Whip, Stir, Whip. Whip, Whip, Stir."

When this game was announced last year I promised myself to get every expansion...and so far I have gotten every expansion (even though I have only played the game once!)

I think I'll continue to buy every expansion (unless the game will 100% shift it's focus to the PT/CW) for 3 reasons:

-I collect Star Wars and since I was introduced to the legendary game HeroQuest in 1990 I always wished someday a SW dungeoncrawler type game would be released with miniatures, expansions, etc. "I would get 'em all" I said back then. So in a way I am doing it for the 14 year old me.

-My 4 year old son (he already wants to play.....but is a bit too young....and maybe our daughter will like it as well someday)

-Hopefully there will be more gamenights in the future where my pals & I play this game (there's one coming up in 2 weeks)

I will be buying every expansion. Even a Jar Jar Binks expansion---- just so I can melt down and destroy the figure.

The only expansion I'd consider missing is when FFG release an empty box and even then I'd probably be tempted by the box artwork.

I skipped Weiss... My beautiful untainted AT ST is enough for me. Other than that, besides maybe 3P0 and R2, I'll get em' all..
