This is huge! The F4 work best when grouped with the rest of the Marvel Universe IMO. Plus this gives us access to incredible characters, such as the Skrull, Doctor Doom, Silver Surfer, Galactus, etc. This sort of thing is PERFECT for the MCU! Man it's awesome awesome awesome!!!!

AWESOME!!!

Woo and or Hoo!!!

The first 2 FF movies weren't bad, but the last one, bleh I didn't even bother seeing it.

The fact that Johnny was black didn't bother me, what bothered me was the complete and utter lack of understanding of the character that decision made, plus the blatant pandering.

That alone was enough to make me avoid the movie until netflix and perhaps even then, because if they would do something like that it says volumes about how they'll treat the property over all.

Just need to get the X-Men back so we can finally have mutants in Marvel again.

From the original article on Den of Geeks:

We don't have an independent source to back this claim up, so we'll have to treat it with a certain amount of caution for now. But given the reception Fantastic Four received earlier this summer, it makes sense that Fox would be receptive to the idea of a deal with Marvel, particularly if it meant wresting something as major and lucrative as the X-Men TV rights from Marvel's grasp.

particularly if it meant wresting something as major and lucrative as the X-Men TV rights from Marvel's grasp.

God I hope Marvel has better sense than to give someone up rights to something else.

The Fantastic 4 news basically sprang up from nowhere as a response to the announcement of two new X-men tv shows centering around The Hellfire Club and Legion. Both of those are apparently joint productions between Fox and Marvel.

Here's one of the articles on that. http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/hellfire-legion-television-series-marvel-fox-fx-1201618177/

The fact that the tv shows are joint productions pretty much points to the Fantastic 4 rumors being nothing more than internet rumors. If they had traded rights, there would be no need to attach both names to the projects.

Crap. I blame Buzz Killington.

Yeah, in fact apparently sources in both companies are denying that any rights have reverted.

Everything points to this being a business deal to actually make X-men shows, because neither side can make one without the other's approval. And the more friendlier the relationship, the better.

And please, I hope Feige never gets his hands on the X-men.

I hate being 'the downer guy' but aren't we getting tired of the same 'ol superhero reboots? Someone kill Spiderman already. I can appreciate that these comic heroes have a fan base out there but it seems the industry is being suffocated with remakes, reboots prequels snd sequels of the same stale characters.

So does Marvel have the rights for FF back or not? I want the Fantastic Four (back) in Dice Masters!

No, they are not. More reputable journalists have confirmed with their sources at both companies.

And the movie rights have no real effect on merchandise. The FF can be in game if Marvel allows it.

Crap. I blame Buzz Killington.

I blame shoddy journalism... I say while looking directly at Den of Geeks.

If it wasn't for comic book movie reboots, Fox would have remade all of its movies from the 80's by now.

Hey, It's either comic books or micheal bay r*ping my childhood...

Technically anytime a longtime writer is replaced by a new one, this would count as a reboot to an existing printed superhero-series.

This is the reason why I can take any superhero-series serious anymore...!

I hate being 'the downer guy' but aren't we getting tired of the same 'ol superhero reboots?

I'm tired of reboots because I'm sick and tired of origin stories. That's why I think it's great that when Marvel makes their Spiderman movie, they're not going to bother. They're just assuming everyone knows who Spiderman is and skipping the whole 'bitten by a spider and killing uncle Ben' stuff.

But killing Spiderman? Good God no, just make decent movies with him and stop trying to reinvent the character. Thor was great that way, no origin really, just Thor. Ironman 2 was also good that way.

Not necessarily, though the origin stories are becoming a bore, we know Bruce Wayne saw his parents murdered. We know about the spider and the planet blowing up.

Unfortunately, like with FF4, some companies care more for putting out movies so the rights won't revert than they do for putting out good movies.

Fans of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series are painfully aware of that! There was an episode aired during infomercial time in the middle of the night - just to keep the rights. Anyone who is a fan of fantasy genre knows and probably loves these books. It was painful to watch.

Soon all movies will be Marvel.

Jordan's widow called it an unauthorized production. Wow. Just wow. They call people pirates for sharing fansubbed toku episodes and some douchbag company can just up and make a tv series (well just the pilot but still) based on an existing series of novels... classy.

Soon all movies will be Marvel.

Even the DC ones. ;)

"I'm Spider-man, no longer!

...

I'm Batman!"

Nah, my bet is that one day DisneyTM will own ALL of the franchises and any said rights pertaing to them...

If Marvel does ever get the movie rights to FF back, I very much want them to set it in the 1960s, and make them the progenitors of the 21st century Avengers. You could have the first Ant Man running around with daddy Stark and Peggy Carter.

And in the center of it all: Nick Fury. Who isn't aging. For reasons never, ever, mentioned.

This is a great point.

One of the things I love about SW is that Mr. Lucas created a universe. To build this universe he threw in elements of stories without giving any details. We, the audience, fill in those details ourselves making the universe not only a rich and wondrous place .. but one that we are interested in because we have build these stories around our own interests, beliefs, expectations, etc.

Examples, the bounty hunter Han and Leia ran into at Ord Mandell, why is Boba Fett singled out and told not to disintegrate any body, how did Han and Chewy become best buds, why did Han and Lando have a falling out, C-3P0's many battles (even though he's not much of a storyteller), kessel runs, etc.

Whilst the EU added a lot to the universe, it also tried to provide detail on every reference to this universe. This takes the structures we have build for ourselves away and replaces them with someone else's. Are they similar to yours = EU is great! Are they different = WTF is this. That's not SW!

With this in mind, I really don't want a Han Solo origin story. The character is much interesting in his current state.

I didn't want Boba Fett's origin story...

Why Lucas?! WHY???

I didn't want a Darth Vader origin story. Why, Lucas...? Whyyy???
