FFG isn't the only one with bad Star Wars names.

You make some really good observations, and recognize that last placement (determining the final shape) is just as important as the first placement (having more control over the area the field will cover). Asteroids have come a long way since slamming down the big rock in the centre of you opponents range 2 was the way to go.
Whilst talking about generalities with regards to the shape and rough location of the field is fairly easy to do and to follow, it is when you try to explain the whys that it becomes difficult. You have to have an understanding of not only your own squad, opening and obstacles but also your opponents. You have to understand what advantage they are trying to gain by pushing the rocks more on to your side of the table.
I always try to cover the (admittedly vague) whys when talking about my games but I also understand that the entertainment value of the show as a whole negates a lot of what we can discuss in such a visually queued topic.
I would hope that if most people threw down a rough ring of asteroids they would instantly see why it can make it easier to heard an echo in to fire lanes. Things like that I will always try to cover but it is extremely hard to explain why I take big rocks with my shuttle if you don't understand the basics of rock placement.
Not ranting, and should be read in a friendly tone as it is a topic I very much enjoy but is very hard to gauge an audience reaction when, for my part I just want people to enjoy us talking about Star Wars!

Count me as one that would interested in an asteroid placement episode/vlog. I feel like that is a part of the game that escapes me thus far.
I have been listening to the show from the very start, it's a great show and i appreciate the time and effort you guy's put into it. I actually feel i know you all from listening, i thinks that's the biggest compliment you can give.

Thanks again for the Podcast. It was much more too the point than Ep 33 which I appreciate. I also appreciate Major J's honesty about his lengthy battle report from the last one. I would like to see some special podcasts (or videocasts) that elaborate on asteroid placements, opening moves, and favored tactics. These could all be separate segments spread out over multiple episodes but are topics that I believe many will be interested in, especially to fill the gap between worlds and wave 8.
My only other critique for the show as a whole is to come up with new Cryodex commercial (or maybe add it in as an announcement in a sponsorship fashion..."The following segment is brought to you by Cryodex, your one-stop shop for X-Wing tournament software"). It was funny the first few times I listened to it but ever since I just try to skip it. A little too extreme for me. There might even be new features or tweaks for Cryodex that fixed some problems which could be mentioned. It may even be good to talk about the differences between it and the FFG software. The List Juggler commercial is still good though. Anyway, minor personal preference and it would not hurt my feelings if nothing changed. Keep up the great work. I am looking forward to the World's prep show.
Other shower thoughts about the last episode...It was briefly mentioned for point comparison but the TIE/fo seems to me like the Imperial version of the A-Wing. Same total stats (plus 1 hull/minus 1 shield), no AT option, but the price point is spot on for A-Wing refits and the dial seems like a similar variation (not as fast strait, but has 2 hard greens). It is worth considering that even though there is not a second EPT available it has a tech slot. There will be more options for the tech slot in the future and it will end up being a closer comparison to the A-Wing IMO. It has some great potential.
Edited by Deepspace5Too late, I already painted the edges of my asteroid brown because everyone else would already used black. Well for the TFA asteroids I used an alternating brown/black pattern, also my debris clouds are metallic.
Kris, it looks like the community has spoken... we may have to set up a show YouTube Channel to put these ups.
I'd be down for an asteroid placement episode as well! Have you ever thought about a squad analysis episode? Ask for the community to submit their squadrons, then analyze them. Heck, pit two against each other on Vassal and talk about how it went!

Actually we have thought about that. I keep telling myself when we hit a slow period in the news/updates/previews we will do shows like that to fill some air time. However we have yet to hit that slow period!
I am sure post Worlds and before Store Championships we will find some time for that.
Thanks for the feedeback!

Next episode will be one that you won't want to miss. I have a feeling it will be a long one, too.
I love the show, I'm always rooting for more and longer from you guys. Think you guys underrated epsilon leader or as I know him "my own personal satan." That guy is the devil to rebel control
