A way to include prequel factions

To be honest, I can really see where the CIS was coming from.

(I actually thought the CIS was in the right compared to the GAR.)

Or they would be, if it wasn't a lie to trick people into going to war.

No, even if it wasn't they're still in the wrong. Keep in mind the CIS was only fettered by the Republic in regards to being unable to exploit resources to the degree they wanted. They wouldn't have been any less broken than the Republic, probably more so due to being founded on an untenably destructive goal.

My planet, my resources.

And you can't just lump in all of the actual Independant Systems that were just tired of the junk the Senate pulled.

The GAR was a sagging mass that had competition from the Hutts. A lot of planets got tired of being pushed around.

Make sure that the politics remain in-context with regards to Star Wars factions and policy.

I love political discussion, but it can be divisive and heated, so let's argue politics, but keep it in-universe.

And unlike its RL counterpart the Republic can't claim the CIS struck first because the first battle of the war was a Republic assault to rescue three Republic agents who had been caught red handed committing what would be capital offenses in pretty much any RL nation.
