Miraluka Race?

By LugWrench, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Seeing as how the Miraluka (the ones that wear the blindfolds) are 'in tune' with the force, Im going to post this in the F&D boards. Does anyone know if the Miraluka will be a playable race, or if they are in an official sourcebook, somewhere? I know that people have probably kludged together some stats for their own 'homemade' race, but I'm looking for the actual from-the-book race.

Nope, nothing so far. Not sure what the future holds, either.

Probably will find them in Consular, Mystic or Shadow book.

I suspect we'll see them pop-up at some point.

One of the Gatekeepers in the the Force and Destiny beginner game follow-up adventure was a Miraluka. That's promising.

Well, I am not sure... The first Adventure Module released had an Arkanian NPC. They haven't popped up yet though.

Although I find both of those species to be pretty shoe-in F&D species choices. F&D has species based on different Jedi seen in the PT (Kel Dor because Plo Koon, Cerean because Ki-Adi-Mundi) or in the wider EU (Whiphid because K'Kruhk). FFG can easily take that and run with for a long while (Arkanian because Arca Jeth, Miraluka because... all of them, or just Visas Marr, Cathar because Juhani, and so on).

I suspect we'll see them pop-up at some point.

The line's not done yet.

To be fair ..... not a lot of books out for the line yet either. Soooooo

Mind you, I am not saying they won't show up eventually I am just saying that thusfar NPC races have not been the benchmark for what eventually became the PC races. Arkanians, Uggnaughts, Jawa, Gammoreans, etc.

According to EU Both the Cathar and The MIraluka were wiped out in the Old Republic. This is why you don't see them during the time of the Repulic/Clone Wars. Miraluka were Wiped out after Darth Nihilus consumed their Homeworld and 95% of their population. I don't remember the Cather for Sure but I thought I read in the KOTOR games that they were on the decline even then.

Well...no, not quite. Katarr was a colony world only. At least in F&D, it talks about both species home worlds (Alpherides and Cathar) and species in present tense. And characters of both species appear in stories after the Battle of Endor.

Well, let's see.

We get 7 races in each core book (not counting human).
We get three new races in each career sourcebook.
We've got, what, like 6 careers in each core book.
So that's a total of 75 races (18 sourcebooks with 3 races in each, 3 core books with 7 in each) once all the career sourcebooks are out. (unless some races are duplicated between the sourcebooks, which I can't check right now)
We then have the sector sourcebooks that usually contain 3 races or so.
There's no telling how many of those we'll get.

But I'm very sure that we'll get the Miraluka before long. :D

I mean, the essential guide to alien species only lists 165 species, and many of those aren't sentient in the first place, so I'm very sure that we'll get Miraluka sooner or later. And most likely in one of the FnD sourcebooks, because... well... you know. ;)

Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future.

Luckily FFG doesn't need to strictly adhere to the EU. So the Cathar and Miraluka have a good shot of getting stats as pretty much any other species not yet stated.

There is some duplication and we will probably see more here and there. Humans are in all the core books. Droids were in both EotE and AoR. Twi-leks in EotE and F&D. Duros in Enter the Unknown and AoR. Off the top of my head.

Again, there are EU examples of Miraluka and Cathar post-Endor, so there really won't be any dismissing parts of Legends.

Gran (Age Core and Far Horizons) and Quarren (Fly Casual and Strongholds).

In fact the (I'm pretty sure) original example of a Miraluka was Jerec in Dark Forces.

EDIT: Okay no I was mistaken, but he's still one of the most famous ones.

Nope, first appearance was in the Tales of the Jedi comics from the early 90's. Dark Forces was late 90's if I recall.

Granted when the EU in question was written also matters if we are using the EU to determine if they are still around. Newer stuff tended to void older stuff back in the day. Thus their use in Dark Forces would technically be overridden by their later destruction in KOTOR.

All of which is why I'm glad that FFG isn't playing strictly by EU.

SWTOR has plenty of Miraluka (they're an elite mook in one flashpoint along with being a playable race) so their EU status wouldn't be wiped out in KOTOR.
