Seen a swarm of tie fighter actually take out the last two hull on a mc80. I ended up buy two of boths packs
I want a bomber pack
You would need to delve deeply into the EU to give Imperial bombers more models such as TIE Punishers.
Also, I think it's a design choice that Rebel fighters have more bomber options since they have more expensive, well-rounded ships while Imperials tend to have cheap, specialized ones.
I'm not asking for more imperial bomber options. I think your last statement is spot on and I think it was a good design choice on FFG's part. My issue is I look at the Tie Bomber and think it is screaming to be used in mass but there isn't a very cost effective way to do that.
Nice thought, but we might as well hope for other "unicorns" while we are here....card only packs, Imperial Nebulon-B's, a 24"+ Super Star Destroyer....
All nice, but never gonna happen!
For X-Wing FFG has come out with Aces packs to fix some of it's under performing ships. The argument about the usefulness of squadrons has been going on the entire time I've been interested in this game. Whenever the superiority of a all ship list is brought up people counter with a squadron heavy list that makes good use of bombers. Usually B-Wing are mentioned but sometimes someone will talk about a Rhymer ball.
My thoughts are perhaps the real issue holding squadrons back is the cost in obtaining a large bomber wing. This seems particularly true for Y-Wings and Tie Bombers. If making those two ship more readily available would do a lot of what needs to be done to "fix" squadrons then I think a bomber pack is completely in line with FFG's modus operandi.
The problem is, Bombers aren't under performing. Going by that theory they are more likely to releases "Aces" style packs to make the fighter type ships more effective. Which would be fine of course!
I wonder if the TIE Bomber-only Massive Swarm is going to soon become obsolete.
I say that as someone who has used them successfully and fairly extensively. I have three packs of Imperial fighters, and my swarm of choice has been Vader+Soontir+Rhymer+5xTIEBomber.
I think it may be becoming obsolete because I think the ships-only fleet is coming to an end, if it isn't already. (Your local meta may vary.) Taking all (or mostly) TIE Bombers is a bet that your opponent will not be taking fighter cover. A relatively small number of interceptors (TIE Interceptors or A-wings) can give a Rhymerball a bad day. I'm sure, the A-Wings will eventually be finished, but they might tie up the bombers for a valuable couple of turns.
I think you will see less bombers and a mix of other squadrons built in. Regardless, I think Rhymer will still be a staple. Speaking solely for the Empire side, I think Rhymer, 2 Bombers and an Advanced will be a thing (you can command all 5 from either version of the ISD) with Firesprays and Aggressors in the mix as additional support.

FFG would more likely release a mix of old squadrons with new upgrades than simply releasing a lot of the same. If they do release a bomber-only pack, it should contain new models so as to entice people who already bought the first squadron packs to keep on buying.
