300pt Neb-B list critique please

By JRockNZ, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hi All,

Off to a tourney this weekend and am considering the following list. Am pretty keen to try out 3 Nebs and see if its a viable build. I will most likely be coming up against Squadron heavy AF2 builds and VGG or VVG builds with minimum squads (almost guaranteed Demolisher and Screed).

Objectives:

  • advanced gunnery
  • contested outpost
  • minefields

Flagship: [105]

  • Neb-b escort
  • Mon Mothma
  • Adar Tallon
  • Redemption

Ship 2: [58]

  • Neb-b support
  • Salvation

Ship 3: [62]

  • Neb-b escort
  • Yavaris

Squadrons: [70]

  • 2x X-Wing [26]
  • 2x B-Wing [28]
  • Tycho [16]

Total: 295pts

Depending on the objectives the general plan would be to position heavy to one side at speed 3 and try and swing around behind before dropping speed. Alternatively form a gun line for a slow advance.

2 escorts would provide squadron commands for the bombers (X-wing/B-wing paired per ship) while Tycho flies cover as necessary.

Pros:

  • Strong gun line.
  • Should be able to pick initiative
  • Synergy between ships
  • Has anti squadron and ship covered

Cons:

  • Only 3 relatively fragile ships.
  • Could be very easily flanked

An alternative list that I am considering at 298pts drops the fighters and has 3x Neb-B support refits (Salvation, Redemption, standard), 2x CR90bs (Tantive IV and Dodonna's Pride) lead by Dodonna, plus a few upgrades (XX-9, XI7, Raymus) and no fighters.

Community thoughts?

I'm not a fan of contested out post. I feel it makes it easier to flank and hunt down nebs since a Glad will know where you are going to move and hurt you badly because of it.

In it's place Hyperspace Assualt if you know how to play that well or Fleet ambush to try and get your bombers to say hi faster and get some red dice off sooner.

I can't give any more advice really since I don't know how you play them. I'm pretty brutal for my nebs, allowing braodsides to show to pull shots from each other. (Rarely do any of my living nebs have no damage to hull. Most limping away with 1-2 hull left). I also play with Dodonna.

As for tactics. Kill the Glads, your B-wings love them so keep them close. If you can double tap with B-wings aganst a Glad it will crumble. Along the same lines if you can predict where the other person is going to move, put your squadrons there. This all may seem basic but it can win you games by a pretty good MoV.

Also don't feel like you have stand and fight, once you kill the glad or other decent priced ship. Run, you can out run Vics, Manuver well enought to stay at range and bank on MM. I won my Sullust event because I blapped 1-2 ships and ran like hell. (Note I only fought Imperial players)

You'll want some squadrons so your alternative list should be changed to include some if you want to run it.

Thanks for the advice. Will switch out contested outpost for hyperspace assault.
