Hounds Tooth and tokens

By baxio, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi,

We had a situation last night where the Hounds Tooth was destroyed but the red target lock on it was not spent, and I deployed the Nashtah Pup.

My friend felt the red target lock should follow the Nashtah Pup as it's the same pilot, I felt it should be removed as it is targeting a ship, and the ship was destroyed. However, as you effectively switch to a new ship card, the pilot also looses any unspent focus tokens or blue target locks he might have had on the Hounds Tooth. There's nothing in the FAQ on this.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Dan

The ONLY things that are transferred to the Pup are the Pilot Ability and Pilot Skill.

It has no tokens from the previous ship.

It has no damage cards from the previous ship.

It has no upgrade cards from the previous ship.

Heck, even the pilot's name doesn't transfer: the Z-95 is the Nashtah Pup, not Bossk or whomever.

And according to email clarifications only the pilot ability and pilot skill printed on the YV-666 Pilot card transfers. Not the actual values at the time of destruction.

It is kind of a shame that the Hounds Tooth didn't come with a Bossk Z-95 pilot card with the same PS and ability as the YV-666 pilot. Use the backside of the cardboard base for that.

I would pay 17 points for Bossk in a Z-95. Toss calculation on him for another point and you've got a solid little 18 point value.

Could have done that for more points (17 too low) and it works still be useful for pup deployment or on its own.

The fun part is VI doesn't transfer. So you can drop from a 9 to a 7 on deployment.

If the TL token goes with it, then all tokens would go to, including stress, focus, evade. But since the pup explicitly states what it deploys with it, everything else is ignored.

Thanks for the clarification guys
