WTB Armada Worlds Ticket and Event slot.

By Versch, in Star Wars: Armada

Like the title says.

I am putting feelers out there to explore the possibility that someone who intended to attend, cannot NOW for some reason or other.

I'm just an Armada dude trying to hang and play with other Armada dudes.

Any leads or info appreciated. Hopefully this is legal /gulp.

*NOTE* I am not attempting to enter into a 'Scalping' here. I am trying to get into the event by way of convenience (if a person can't attend) and willing to recoup any losses from it (paying what they paid). Nothing shady here please. Thanks!

Thanks!

I doubt anyone will sell. Any you get would be people who now know they can't make it.

I do want some of the IFF staff to go though. It would make for some great reviews and reports. . . I have to get much better. . . I want to design a card. . .

I don't think people could sell them to you if they wanted. The "tickets" are tied to a name.

Don't crush my dreams. Dano needs to go to this event. I neeeeeeds it!

Now get your thinking caps on and help a dude out.

I don't think I'm interested in selling mine... But did you have an offer in mind? :P

I'd sell my spot...But only if I make top 16 in X-wing, as the X-wing finals start an hour before Armada. But I'm not sure you even can sell them, and it'd be like half a day's notice.

I know some local people who might be interested - if they are transferable.

Its already gonna cost an arm and a leg to fly and find a hotel.

Lol, scalping is legal in MN, nothing shady about it.

Besides, I both said I wasn't interested, and made a tongue sticking out smiley - the "not serious" implication shouldn't be a stretch.

I am not the only one upset about the way they are handling worlds this year. Many other people for other games are not happy about it. Many are upset that it is more like a Baseball Worlds championship. This year I have a feeling I have to win a regionals to get in. . .

What exactly are you upset about?

What exactly are you upset about?

This year, worlds seems extremely convenient for those that live in the area.

For extablished games like Netrunner, X-Wing, and the like, the tournament is really only getting those close buy or were lucky enough to get a ticket (as Naboobo2000 stated, the second sale of tickets lasted all of 3 seconds or so). So the competition is not really "Worlds" class.

This is our once a year Olympics, and the winner gets to design a card that will later change the meta in some way (who designs a card with anything less in mind). On top of that, this game while selling amazingly well does not have a good sized group of players. So for those that attend worlds, will likely want to test their skills and ideology of builds against the "best" that the world has to offer. I know I would if I went.

Off hand, Portland has about 15 regular players and that is rising to near 30 overall players. I am not sure and it may seem egotistical but I am pretty sure that is one of the larger groups in an area currently. That includes GenCon 2nd Place for Armada as well, which he is not going. Neither is other players who I know are very skilled at this game and they could end up doing very well.

So in the end, it is about wanting to face people not based on the money they put forward to getting a "ticket" but to those who earned that right to get to that level.

The sale of tickets was announced weeks in advance, including details of exactly when they would be up for sale. The website went live at the appointed time, and Armada took over an hour to sell out.

I know that some people could not find half an hour free from work or other obligations to sign up, but I don't see how this means that only lucky people made it in, or that it is somehow extra good for locals.

Not the second time. People who were waiting up for that had it sell out before a minute had passed.

Please, take the side discussion to another thread or offline.

Thanks guys. I understand the passion, I just want the responses to stay on point with the Topic.

I know local people who also didn't make that second round 3 second cut.

So I'm not sure what you think being local has to do with anything.

No, not every person at Worlds will be the best. That's a goofily unrealistic expectation with such an event in these circumstances. Due to the timing of the game it's not like they had the opportunity to hold a lot of qualifiers for Worlds in advance.

In the most perfect of all possible universes could it be better? Sure - but expecting that isn't realistic. Other than by virtue of being here, the way they sold tickets doesn't favor local people, as much as you'd like to use that as a reason to upset.

It's not just Armada that is having this issue though.

They don't send us a physical ticket, they send us an email saying we are on their list. If you can verify with FFG officially that one can transfer a ticket, I might be able to help you for the original cost of the ticket - $60. But I am not sure that they allow this.

Thank you kindly. Let me reach out to some FFG folk. I'll get back via PM.

Not entirely accurate. I had to do this exact thing for an X-wing world's ticket. It appeared that they sold out within a matter of seconds, BUT that was because the tickets were apparently only being made available a few at a time. These tickets were primarily coming from players that had won a regional or w/e and had a spot held in reserve but never purchased, so I guess that had something to do with the way they were listed. By keeping an eye on it and spamming refresh etc., more tickets showed up 10-15 mins later, then sold out, then some more etc. I was able to snag one and posted this information in the xwing forum, which caused many others to not give up after the initial couple tickets sold and they were able to get theirs as well.

All that being said, Armada didn't have regionals, so there were likely just not many tickets held in reserve. It would literally only have been 1 per nationals tourney, which was probably 10 at the most. For Armada, you needed to get in the initial registartion in June I guess. Yes it did suck that it was in the middle of the day on a weekday.

There are many players from beyond driving distance attending many of the games. There are always more people from within 2hrs or so than not of course, but I don't think the way registration was conducted has any effect on that. It's always like that (unless it's 100% invitational, but then you HAVE to win a regional or w/e).Granted it may have been iffy to commit to it in June, but for the most part, I think people knew whether they could go or not.

I too would be interested in buying someone's spare ticket, so please let us know what FFG says about transferability.

For anyone who has a ticket they'd be willing to part with, I could pay more than the original $60 cost.

And just to be clear, I'm not sure what jurisdiction everyone here is in, but in MN, where the event is taking place, scalping is perfectly legal, and not sketchy at all.

It turns out I am not able to go, but neither can I get my ticket to someone else. This is FFG's official final answer. Sorry, guys I would love to see one of you get to go in my place, but work intervenes and the tix are not transferable.

Just show up and talk tons of crap about how noone can beat you in Armada. Be completely irritating. Approach everyone saying the only reason they wont let you in is that they know you will be the Paul Heaver of Armada.

Something like noone can win because you always get the initiative bid with your 50pt deficit and you don't even need a carrier to guide your X-Wing Squadron bomber runs...basically these two things are the key to winning every game. You've unlocked it. Where is your trophy?

They will let you play.

Really unfortunate people with tickets that can't go, can't transfer them. However, regardless of state laws allowing for ticket re-sales, I'm glad that in the future I won't have to buy them off of some other ticket re-seller for grossly inflated prices after he/she uses some software to quickly purchase all the tickets.
