Poe, Jake and Doni.

By TheArtfulDodger, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I gave this list a go today and had a good win with it. I took on a tough Chewy, Doni list.

I could have flown it a little better, but I feel the duabilty of the Doni and Poe, mixed with the evasive survivabilty of Jake worked really well despite the lack of fire power from the A wing.

Jake Farrell — A-Wing 24

I like these 3 ships but they all have very specific builds they want. You were almost able to achieve this except Nera is short her TLT. Did you feel that having only 2 attack outside of range 1 hurt your offensive output? Do you think against a list with more than 1 evade die per ship you would struggle?

I will be able to tell u tomorrow lol

Doni can still all in a 3 dice PWT at range 2-3 with her ability. Definitely has its uses.

Sacrificing a shield for an extra die is not worth it. If it was a guaranteed damage, maybe, but otherwise no. And if you're going to regen that next time, you're effectively taking her out of the fight (1 attack die is NOT worth it).

I'd go with a different K-Wing, if you're not dropping a TLT on Miranda. Her ability is pretty amazing with it (especially if you add Gunner). At minimum, find room for a Gunner on her, instead of C-3PO. Then, on the turns that she regens and misses, she can at least take another shot.

Autoblaster is a solid turret, but it still relies on the die treating you reasonably well. Math isn't my strong suit, but I don't think the damage from the unblockable hits would surpass the TLT potential in general, and TLT synergizes MUCH better with Miranda.

You might find that Lone Wolf doesn't trigger as often with your list, and that could be a good spot to steal the 2 points you'd need for a gunner (which would make Miranda a bit more of a reasonable choice).

So I had another win with it today, this time against Dash and Doni.

If anything my Doni build is just a target. She spends the whole game being shot at. if anyone is silly enough to get into range one they are taking damage. mean while jake is just a beast and poe is killing it.

If I was playing against this list (specifically in a tournament, mind you), I would 100% ignore Miranda. I'd focus on your speedsters (as much as possible) and then, if there's still time, mop up Miranda. She doesn't offer enough of a threat for her to even register on my target priority, because A) she's built to be a real pain to kill and B) she isn't worth enough points and C) her big gun is only useful at range 1. The speedsters are MUCH easier to kill (even with ATs and arc dodging), and will net more points.

The 34 point Miranda is definitely annoying and probably going to last most timed matches, but she doesn't compare to other "survivable" ships, such as the standard Fat Han that comes in at over 60 points. Even with the new MOV rules, Fat Han still counts for about two of your Miranda built, which makes it a much bigger target.

I am by no way saying your list can't win, obviously that's not the case, but I think it would struggle against really competitive lists and games that are decided by MOV (though I think you've got a great list against anyone still running two ship lists or large base ships as focal points). I imagine it's EXTREMELY satisfying to catch an enemy at range one, when you still have a shield to spend and up the ABT's output.

I'd love to see some match reports with the list, I've obviously not run it and would like to read what actually ended up working.
