More than 4 firing arcs?

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

Suppose Armada stays strong for years.

How would you feel about potential ships in the future with more than 4 firing arcs? Maybe a hexagonal base with 6 hull zones and 6 firing arcs? Maybe a rectangle like we have now with each hull zone divided in half and there are technically 8 firing arcs but only 4 hull zones? Making doubel shots MUCH easier?

I don't have a particular ship in mind for this, just thinking outside the box.

Don't doubt this might happen to add options. If nothing else; a mission-related station or orbital platform with 6 hull zones and arcs that can only rotate in place? That'd be cool.

I like how simple yet customizable armada is. I also doubt we will see ships with more than 4 fire arcs. A space station or golan laser battery with more would be cool as part of new objective

I fully expect the Super Stsr destroyer to have more than four arcs, such as eight half-arcs you combine to make your shots.

As for normal ships it seems unlikely because the maneuver tool requires a pair of faces that go straight, and there is established meaning to the terms sides, back, and front which would become nebulous if they changed the base or gave a ship an arc tbst covered the side and back. Or at 45 degrees on an octogon base.

Agreed PewPewPew. I'm one that fully expects an SSD in Armada: essentially it'll be the same thing as the corvette/raider in X-Wing. With that it'll have about 6 arcs, 2 per side and front/back. Plus the Golan; though that's less likely as it would require a non-standard play method or very special rules to run it. So not sure how much development time they'll invest on that. Perhaps if one of the movies has a particularly massive storyline involving a station assault they'll tie it in.

I can see this working. Stations and "Huge" ships (if added) would be pretty good candidates.

Personally I would have loved to see it on large ships already, with eight "halve arcs" and a rule to allow for more than two attacks per turn, but under the same restrictions. It feels a bit strange at first that a large ship is not able to divert its firepower from hundreds of weapon mounts between more than two targets. Still hoping for it on even larger ships (if they ever plan to release some) or stations..
