Strain Move after 2nd Action was Rest

By thePREdiger, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

We had a debate last campaign game session if this is legit:

Scenario:
Dialla is on 3/5 strain.
Attacks with Precise Strike (+2 Strain) and maxxes out 5/5. (Action 1)
Now she rests. (Action 2)
Now she spends 2 strains to gain 2 movement points and moves away.

Is this legit, or does her activation immediately end after the 2nd action with no movement points left at that time?

ACTIVATION

  • A figure ends its activation after performing both of its actions and spending its remaining movement points . A player may choose to end his figure’s activation without performing both actions or spending all of its movement points. Remaining actions and unspent movement points do not carry over to a figure’s next activation.

I would say it's valid. You can spend the strain at "any time". Even the way the rule reads, it's not an instantaneous thing. If I was programing it there would be a wait function there before I ended the turn automatically.

I would agree that is legit, I would also say that the following would apply to the argument:

Abilities that trigger “during” a figure’s activation are used before or after either of that figure’s two actions. (Activation RRG pg.3)

And state that the suffering 1 strain to gain a movement point (up to twice per activation) is an ability all heroes have.

Also, the player could suffer 2 strain to get the movement points (not an action), then rest to recover strain (as action 1) and then Precise Strike (as action 2) then spend the movement points gained earlier.

Same results as what they were wanting to do with no reason to argue anything.

I only came here for second opinion - we didnt really argue about it and played it out that way (strain moves after 2nd action)

Thanks for your replies and insights.
