Pre-ordered!

By mac40k, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Starting up a thread for folks to sound off if they've pre-ordered, either with their FLGS, Amazon, or some other online retailer. I did last night.

I'd ask that people that aren't going to get the game to spare us your diatribes as there are plenty of other threads where you've already made it perfectly clear that you won't be buying this game. I realize that I'm probably asking the impossible since the negative posters can't seem to resist posting in any thread that's positive about the game, but I can always hope.

I have pre-ordered and pre-paid for my copy. So have the other 4 members of my game group. Between us we have ordered:

  • 5 Core sets
  • 3 Adventurerer's kits
  • 3 Dice Expansions

We should have more than enough of everything. In addition to the game materials, I've ordered a large pack of clear-covered brad folders and a pack of plastic card sheets. We're probably going play our first game on a weekend, so I'll probably lay in a case of import beer and maybe a bottle or two of wine and some meat for the grill.

I'm kind of looking forward to this. Can you tell :)

I haven't yet. I'm tempted by Amazon, but they screwed me over on my Rogue Trader pre-order, so I'm not sure that I want to go down that route again. Besides, I'd prefer to support my FLGS. I probably won't get much of a discount, but hopefully they'll get the pre-launch event package (Guardian Games in Portland Oregon Jay!! Please!) and I'll do my part to run the demo adventure a couple times and sign up on the pre-order form that comes in the package from FFG. I'll also be ordering a Toolkit and an additional package of dice.

Wow, sounds like a blast NezziR! So, where do you live again? gui%C3%B1o.gif partido_risa.gif

I think that you should really net a preferred customer status from FFG for this. Maybe a discount off of further purchases.

I havn't pre-ordered it yet. I'm holding fire until I get to see a few reviews of the end product.

I preordered, went the Amazon route (core set and adventure kit, with shipping for less than MSRP on the core set). I've only had good experiences with Amazon in the past, but never pre-ordered anything, so I'll have to see.

I'm really not a fan of percentile systems, and my players were just not having much fun with v2. I'm intrigued enough by the new mechanics to give it a try.

dvang what happened with Amazon?

I had only good experiences with them. Fast shipping, good conditions, great discounts. I don't plan to preorder, because the prices might go down further later, or at least remain the same, so I'm in no rush. I'm waiting on reviews.

I'm very positive about this game, and very hopeful. But it'll be a big purchase for me. I have 4 new RPG systems I just bought from Japan. Haven't even try those yet, so I can wait. Though I am very tempted to do the purchase and get it asap. )

Thinking of pre-ordering from Amazon since they have it for a low price and the dollar is weak.

Does anyone have experience of ordering boxed sets from Amazon to Europe (Sweden)? Don't wanna get screwed by them...

I preordered mine and got two extra sets of dice.

I expect to have to photocopy (for personal use) some of the cards as we have FIVE (count 'em) FIVE players ;)

I pre-ordered RT relatively early. They estimated a date, which passed (I'm sure due to FFG, not blaming Amazon). However, my order did not get a new estimated date. Finally, a few weeks later, FFG announced that RT was released ... and still Amazon did not have an estimated date for me. I finally emailed their customer service (October 8th), and they replied to me that the item was on backorder, and my new estimated date was October 31st. Other people on the forums were posting that their Amazon orders were either already shipped, or were estimated to ship the 15th/16th. The next day I walked into my FLGS and there were 2 copies on the shelf. Needless to say, I picked one up and cancelled my Amazon order.

So, my pre-order was obviously a less priority than everyone else's pre-order, since it wasn't going to be shipped until 1-2 weeks after everyone else's.

1) I fail to understand how Amazon could fail to acquire enough to fulfill pre-orders.

2) It was understandable that there was an initial date that was pushed back. Not having updated an expected shipping date until the game is released, and I have to email them to get it updated, is not reasonable.

3) Having my PRE-ORDER delayed 2 weeks later than (it seems) every other pre-order was shipped, is unacceptable too.

So combine those, and I'm perfectly fine with contributing to my FLGS by buying it off the shelf almost 3 weeks before my Amazon pre-order would even ship.

Yup, I put down a deposit on the core game AND the Tool kit thingy at my local gaming shop.

What can I say: I like to support the little guys.

No they're not all midgets

...Not that I have anything against midgets.

Preordered both the core set and the adventurers set from an online retailer here in the UK.

Where have you ordered it from? I'm really struggling to find shops carrying it in the UK at a reasonable price.

Amazon UK doesn't have it, neither do most of the little shops I would buy from. Maelstrom Games is carrying WFRPv3 at £53.99 but I have had bad experiences with them in the past. iguk have got WFRPv3 priced at £67.39 which equates to more than $100 (last time I checked the exchange rate anyway).

I am starting to wonder if it would be cheaper to buy in the US and have shipped to England.

Edit: Happy Birthday Necrozius.

I have pre-ordered the main set from Maelstrom and the toolkit from IGUK.

interestingly, IG have just sent through their news letter with expected release dates of 30th October for toolkit and dice and 30th November for main Game!

I think someone has got one of those wrong, and unfortunately I don't think its the main game!

Ordered mine from IGUK, because I have used them successfully before. As to the price, don't forget that the exchange rate on the news is not what you get charged on your credit card. Likewise most American states don't have sales taxes, so we have to add 15-17.5% VAT to the bill as well. Also a 6.5 pund box plus packaging is going to be very expensive in postage from the USA.

I was looknig at this and trying to find cheap US sites that would sell it, but after quite a bit of invesitgation (and actually a cancelling of a pre-order from a US site) I found out that with postage and packaging figured, it wasn't that much cheaper to order from US.

Maelstrom is the cheapest I have found and so did pre-order from them, in the end.

On the flip side, do you know a cheap UK based site for card protectors?

For Card Sleeves try these guys, They carry the correct sizes for WFRPv3 and seem reasonably priced at about £2.50-£3 for 100 sleeves delivered.

I was hoping someone had found another UK source because as I mentioned before Maelstorm Games have caused me enough problems that I won't deal with them. I like IGUK, they are usually very good, but she who must be obeyed says that if WFRPv3 costs nearly £70 I can have it as my Christmas present from her (as in she will pay for it) but if that happens she will wrap my game up and not let me have it until Christmas Day. On the otherhand if I can find WFRPv3 for about £50 or less she will let me buy it myself and then I can have it straight away. I could of course suck it up and pay £67.39 myself but she'll hurt me badly.

Pre-ordered with Amazon. 37% off is substantial, even though Amazon tends to delay pre-orders in my experience.

I just pre-ordered the core set and the Adventurer's Toolkit through Amazon as well. Delivery estimate December 3rd!

My FLGS has signed me on to do the Demo days and I will be getting the demo copy for running it for them.

Preordered from Amazon about a week-and-a-half ago.

With that outlay I sure hope it is everthing you and your group dream it will be.

On Amazon:
I have found when dealing with Amazon it seems the eairler you pre-order the lower on the list of getting stuff you become, as a few times now either myself or my friends have pre-ordered and then recieve it after those of us purchasing it within the first few days of release or a pre-order made a couple of weeks after the initial preorder was submitted.

We've read all the available material carefully, the designer's diaries, examined the pictures, read the speculations (and made our own). Though we pre-ordered very early, we would have canceled our orders if we didn't think it was going to be great. I think we have a very good handle on how the game will play and what its design philosophies are. We have discussed it and we feel like we are making an informed purchase. We had our final discussion on this subject as late as last Tuesday, as this will have a fairly big impact on our campaign. My group is highly motivated and looking forward to taking the system for a spin.

I think I understand this game pretty well (as do most people that have kept a close eye on things), there are few surprises left. It is my opinion that a lot of thought went into its design. I feel that a lot of 'dubious' customers will be relieved once they get a chance to play and see how it all falls together. I'm hoping for good things. I want to see this system succeed, grow, and spawn tons of new source material.

Strangely, part of what helped us make up our mind were the people that voiced such strong negative opinions. This forced us to look at things very closely and we went as far as to make a list of issues the nay-sayers had. Then we went down the list. The vast majority of the issues, we think, are due to misunderstandings about how things work. After we debunked most of the arguments, what was left was purely personal preference. We decided that it sounded like a solid, fun game. I told my players that I could run a campaign, of the quality they are accustomed to, with this system without difficulty and that cinched it. Those that hadn't already, wrote checks for our distributor and we locked our orders.

I'm jazzed. I can't wait to try it out :)

I'm wondering how accurate Amazons esimated delivery date of 12/2 is. On the one hand, FFG still lists this as "at the printer". On the other hand, even though The Emperor's Decree is being billed as a pre-release event, I can't imagine that FFG would want too much time to elapse between the event and the game being available for sale. You want the product available while people are still excited about if from the demo. If too much time elapses, their enthusiasm potentially wanes and/or they get distracted by/spend their money on something else. Certainly they need to get this out in time to have it available during the Christmas shopping season. I'm surprised FFG hasn't given us a more definative release date yet.

Now that you have the game in your warehouse, could you please telle us when will it be possible to order it from you ?

Thanks.

Order placed for core set and adventuer's kit through Amazon.

Hmm dice might be a good idea.
