Value of FFG Acrylic Promotion Tokens?

By Holmelund, in X-Wing

Hi

Has anyone an general idea about the value of the promo tokens?
One of the reasons I am asking is that I have 15 of the old dark blue Shield Tokens, but I think I might want to get some of the newer light ones instead. Getting a comparissn for a sell/swap of them would be nice so I dont rip my self or someone else off.

The old (and prettiest) ones fetch a fair sum on eBay.

I'd search there for active auctions to give you a rough idea for a base-line.

Peak price I've seen on ebay was 120 $....

price is what ever you can get for them...

I collect a lot of things and that's how I look.

Someone may have something posted and ask twice as much as what it usually sells for

^ common sense, not so common when you think about it. :P

People go crazy for those damned things. Only a handful of them are actually cool, like the critical hit reminder and prox mine acrylics. Most of the rest are meh, especially the glut of terrible light green ones lately.

Until recently there has been no regional around, and I got into the game early 2014

+1 to searching completed auctions on eBay, instead of currently listed ones. You may have to go back a bit to get a good value, but from what I've seen the "older" versions of the tokens are worth about twice what the "newer" lighter colored ones are. Also, I've seen a couple mixed lots go recently, might look for those. I usually search "x-wing acrylic" or "x-wing promo" to get almost all of the listings.

Be warned if you're a completionist: Those acrylic crit tokens are going to drive you crazy. They're some of the rarest, most expensive, and least used tokens in the game. So while you think you'd be able to pick up some cheaper (because hardly anyone uses them), its opposite the case because of the rarity!

HEY! :o I like those lime candy tokens...!

The light green ones are so much easier to see on the game mat. I never liked the dark green ones that would disappear on the table.

I much prefer the new frosted tokens. So much easier to see on the game mat.

I have the dark green evade tokens and I can't say I've ever had a problem with their visibility on the table

If I had to use FFG's tokens, I'd go with the first ones because they are easier to read. I have no need for them however because the ones I bought from Greenman Designs are better looking than the ones FFG gives away for prizes.

If you're looking for good looking acrylic tokens you should check them out.

Whoa it seems like different people like different things. The things I learn on the xwing forums!

I love the frosted candy ones because they are the first tokens that I actually won.

Everything goes for a pretty good price, except the cloak tokens. How many of them are there? How many Phantoms does each player have?

At one point I ended up with 7 cloaking tokens. Gave 4 away, kept 3 for my phantoms. Will come in handy for the illicit slot too.

I still am sitting in 35 old blue shield tokens and a few baggies of the newer stuff, 3 focus token bags at least. Only acrylic I'm missing is the crit, proton/prox, and 6-10 TLs. I personally don't like most of the second hand tokens, they don't look like quality products. I have seen some though that are nice, but then the rest of the set is just bleh.
