These are from Micromachines but I think its safe to say with all the hype from the the new movie and with what we are seeing with X Wing we'll be seeing one of these for Armada in the not to distant future.

I'll buy that.
Well that is to say I can see that being the case.
Although I probobly would buy that expansion as well.
I just picked up the Titanium Edition FOSD. Looking at it, I see the same "open spaces" in the nose as are visible on yours.
This further reinforces my thought from a few weeks ago. The entire front 1/4 (by length) on the nose seems to be a massive docking facility for smaller vessels.
Really? The Finalizer has the typical Star Destroyer underside hangar as well. The front-on view of the ship doesn't seem to have any obvious hangar spaces as well... if anything... the open nose makes clearance for more turbolaser batteries.
I always thought the burn marks on the MicroMachines point to the Finalizer crashing after some pitched battle with rebel T-70s. Hopefully not, don't want to have spoilers revealed in that way, but that's my guess.
The bow reminds me of some WW2-era Japanese carriers, like the Zuikaku:
I know triangles are the imperial's thing, but I would like more variety.
OBLIGITORY: It's a civil war, all ships should be cross faction (for a price)
As Attack Wing shows us, without faction restriction, insanity breaks out.
Is it meant to be all squished at the front, or is the model a bit deformed?

It does seem to have the underside bays. But the front looks similar to some of the landing areas seen on Corusant, not for fighters, but for smaller large ships, if that makes any sense. The scale would be all screwy, but JJ dosn't have any problem completly ******* the scale of everything.
Here, compare this: http://imgur.com/a/8SowJ
It might well be turbolaser batteries, but it seems odd to open the space to enemy fire. A docking bay, OTOH, must be open to fire. Of course, that's a screwy place to put it, but what do I know?

Micromachine models are just terrible. How they are still in business is beyond me.
As for the new SD, its growing on me but it lacks the iconic "we are so powerful we can afford to make our vulnerable bridge huge and obvious" look of the original ISD
I think the new design looks terrible, personally. It looks like something designed between the Jedi Civil War Sith ships from KotOR, and the Imperial Star Destroyer, not afterwards. To each their own, I just hope that these stay out of Armada for a while.

While I don't entirely disagree with you (and I very much prefer the original ISD and have no intention of including the new SD in my armada fleet), to me it looks very much inspired by the Eclipse class SSD. Basically it looks more 'sith' and less 'imperial' (if that makes sense):

Cross-faction play is like the last on the list of "Reasons why Attack Wing got stupid."
Was it in a fire? Or does it come all blacken and half melted?

Maybe they learned their lesson from the Executor lol.

That's a fair point. I'd forgotten the Eclipse , but I have always thought it looked very odd/different than the rest of the Imperial fleet.

You really think so? I remember a lot of posters on BGG talking about how overpowered the Borg got with Fed Picard at the helm handing out ship actions that the Borg don't get normally. Even here, why would you go single-faction ever if you could take B-Wings and TIE Interceptors in the same list?
Granted, virtually no playtesting and crapping out expansions faster than paint drying did a lot more to crash the game than this, but still, I don't think it was insignificant. And I think it's a bad idea for any FFG minis game.
...at least generally. It would be neat to see certain classes swap factions, like the Nebulon-Bs. In the Legends continuity it was the case, and the Empire has no analogue to that craft.

It was the age of discovery with respect to aircraft carriers....and the Japanese had some of the most unique looking ships as they explored different configurations!....ja, I concur!

Bwings and interceptors? Ok sure, whatever. B-Wings and Rhymer? Activated by Yavaris?

I hadn't even noticed all the blackening - it's obviously been damaged somehow. Even MM couldn't make a model that bad, right?
On the bright side, if this is official then it tells us the size - just a little bigger than an ISD.
As for the design, I like it, but I do think it lacks the tone Imperial class ships had (they always struck me as slightly Nazi-like). It looks slicker, like it was designed to look cool. Same goes for the new TIEs - some how the new colour scheme (which I like) makes them look, to me, like they're meant to look cool, like the person in charge is maybe a bit vain (same goes for that cool new shuttle). So, if the story and characters fit it's that, no we're supposed to think the First Order are a bit hung up on style, then good. If, however, nothing like that is suggested and it turns out this is just a break from the design language of the old films for no reason other than looking cool, then I strongly disapprove.

I think the original designs were done with WW1/2 battleships in mind, where line of vision really was a thing and having a high point of view outweighed the disadvantage of being on a huge f**king target. Look at the movies, they actually have gunnery crews rotating their TLs like it would still be 1942.. one has to admit that the visions of what high-tech could be have been relatively short-minded back then.
But seeing the eclipse SD I very much like the idea of having a regular imperial navy with more-or-less streamlined, regular ship designs and some Sith/dark Jedi ships with more elaborated, sharp and evil designed ships.

That look was largely due to the carriers in question being built on top of existing ships, with the flight deck supported by struts in the front. But it does look neat on the Star Destroyers
.

Second, I know I said "all" but let me walk that back a bit. Obviously, luke wouldn't be ever in an empire list, but Neb-B's which were developed by the empire would have that option.
Next, you explained it pretty well, it wasn't just that Piccard was giving out actions, it's that the game suffered from a lack of play testing and was released too fast. And there was that formula they used for pricing which didn't account for arcs and dials.
All this First Order stuff will come soon enough ...
I would *REALLY* appreciate if they would wait ... well ... a LONG time and rather come up new factions from the EU.
