[rpg]4th edition : Okuma's guide to gaijin

By okuma, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

The work may need proofreading honestly.

I'm willing to help with that, and have actually done some for other RPGs before.

All the schools are done, I'm finalizing the equipment now.

Karasu proofreaded the first chapters and that showed me a lot of mistakes I corrected.

I somehow feel that I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't point out that it's another of those English irregular verbs and Karasu proofread the first chapters.

. . . English has regular verbs?

(I am so grateful I grew up speaking this language, and didn't have to face learning it in school.)

English has so little exceptions compared to french. But I didn't learn much at school when it came to english, I did it the hard way with rpg books and dictionnaries. I was quite tired when I posted that anyway...

Every language has strange elements. English has spelling and some odd conjugations. Other languages have "gendered" (as in, it has nothing to do with gender) words that double many elements in the language for no real reason. Some even have the slightest change in intonation make the difference between "love" and "gangrenous limb".

I'm making sacred weapons for every faction, but I suddenly wondered if people wanted nemuranai too ?

I'm not sure how you'd get nemuranai for some of the factions. Some sort of enchanted weapon perhaps, but they'd be very different.

The nemuranai are magical items available to everyone in the Jewel, for those I picked. The only items specific at each faction are the sacred weapons.

I'd like magic items. :-)

Equipment is done, going to finish creatures with rules for naar tebans and new shapeshifter powers

Hey Okuma,

When you are done I can always upload it to Kaze no Shiro. I am trying my best to get as much on Kaze no Shiro since I'd rather have more of a legacy for the L5R RPG than what we currently have.

Since with the Naar Teban I created ancestors for the Naga, I'm creating ancestors for Gaijins.

Thanks Seigi, I must have missed your post a few days ago, I always planned to ask if you could host it.

Okuma's guide to Gaijin part 1 is finished, gonna proofreading it now.

- advantages, disadvantages and skills discussion

- 40 or so advantages and disadvantages including sacred weapons for all factions and ancestors for Naga and Burning Sands and Ivinda characters.

- Discussions about magic and spiritual things outside of Rokugan

- Creations rules for Thrane and Merenae with families, honor-like system and 10 schools, magic and new equipment and two creatures.

- Creation rules for Burning Sands characters with new families, one new faction, 5 new magic disciplines, 24 schools and new paths including the Senpet taskmaster, the Yodotai practician and the Qabal unearthly child, new equipment including magic items, an index of anything related to the Burning Sands in 4th edition of sort, new creatures including naar teban creation rules and all the canon Jinn stats (except Kaleel), location of the Burning Sands including the White lands and description of areas of Medinah Al-Salaam, all the canon sayings of Mekhem and a map of the Buring Sands and the Yobanjins lands.

It's 90 pages long, so part 2 with the Ivinda and the Yobanjin will wait a few months to be ready.
