Making Han Solo actually worth 26 points

By D503, in Star Wars: Armada

The Talon + Yavaris combo is done much cheaper for more damage with a B-wing or H-6. Absolutely NO need for Han to make that combo go. If you want anti-squadron a basic X-wing, Wedge, or Dutch are all cheaper as well. In fact, you could run a B-wing AND X-wing for 1 more point, and activate whichever you wanted/needed. If you're spending points on Yavaris and Talon, you are most likely wasting points on rogue.

Han worked out really well for me in my last game. My imperial opponent had the initiative and had lined up his VSD with expanded launchers for a perfect shot on my flagship. However, Han shot first and knocked out the VSD before it could kill my flagship and resolve its engineering command, winning me the game.

I think you wasting points on Rogue if your Rogue ships aren't in addition to what you earmarked for Yavaris usage. But if you were already bringing a trio of B-wings then the addition of some Rogue ships would allow you some freedom of movement/Command usage from your other ships. If the moment strikes you can always opt to take the double attack with a Rogue ship of the situation warrent it.

Talon I don't think is inappropriate to use on a Rogue ship in general. He allows you two activations so you want to get the most out of them which Rogue ships can do given the ability to move and shoot during the second traditional activation.

If Han's strange activation system messes with Adar Tallon's command (or makes him , perhaps it is possible to use the other rebel rouge ship, Dash Rendar instead? I was thinking something like this, as a carrier:

Assault Frigate MkIIb (120 points)

General Dodonna

Adar Tallon

Flight Controllers

Expanded hangar bays

ECM

Accompanying squadrons (70 points)

Luke Skywalker

Dash Rendar

2x X-wing

By doing this you can activate the entire group of 4 squadrons, and they are pretty decent against both squadrons or ships. You can then move Render's slider across and he can activate himself again in the squadron phase, moving and shooting if necessary due to rouge.

With squadron commander he has 5 blue dice and a number of re-rolls against squadrons, and one black dice with a re-roll against ships. Not too shabby.

If you are facing a shielded ship, you can re-activate luke instead to get a good chance of 2 bomber hits through shields. I figure with that many bombers kicking around, it would be rude not to take Dodonna.

I'm curious. Would this work?

Yavaris with Tallon and a Squadron Command Token.

Reveals squadron command dial.

- Uses token first to activate Han

- Han moves and shoots

- Tallon activate, allowing Han to be used again.

- Use dial to activate Han again.

- Han shoots twice cause of Yavaris.

This is a three shot Han. Is this doable? Can almost guarantee a kill against an elite imperial squadron (Vader, Howlrunner, Mauler, Fel).

Would this work? If so, I'm impressed all of a sudden with Han.

As previously stated, this is an illegal move. Bit if it were legal, you could just do that with a 13 point xwing for the same dice.
