Can Wave 1 "hang" with Wave 2?

By Tom Mothma, in Star Wars: Armada

the cost of lowering the skillcap on the offense greatly raises it on the defense. Having pitiful health and only one redirect at medium/close range = squishy cr-90s without MM. The defensive output you get from her (for cheaper than akbar) has a greater impact on their performance

Arguable. Still want to test it on the table, but I would theorize that never having to dip my nose towards the enemy would make it harder to catch my corvettes at anything besides long range anyway. Then again, that ISD is awful big and fast.

ISD's are interesting, though, because of their cost. They'll severly limit the rest of their list. My current VSD is 103 w/o an admiral and tosses as much dice an ISD (more black obviously), is relatively unconcerned with Brace tokens, and can delete tokens as needed. This allows me to pull in some fighter support for the same cost an ISD w/upgrades. That could be better...or it could be worse depending.

My two other ships are very fast and agile...so I feel a slower lump-ship works out for me; but others might really want that speed 3 behemeoth with silly base dice.

It is also less manoeuvrable, and has fewer hull and shields - and you are spending those shields to make it equal in power. For seven points.

That's not what i'm using it for. I'm using it as a area-denial ship as I have Demolisher and a Raider to deal with manoeverablilty and flanking...as well as hefty squadron firepower. I am using Expanded Launchers as well.

The other trick to it is that I go second whenever I have the option: so you're going to have to pick your poison unless you have a 4+ point bid on me. One allows me to essentially negate my slowness by popping into close/near-close range instead of slogging it. Another allows me to completely dictate the tactical engagmenets while netting massive points if you're not running enough squadrons. And yet another allows me to delete any ship that enters my no-fly zone.

I'm mostly worried about rebel lists with lots of red dice with my VSD on the field. I'm hoping good play with my smaller ships will allow me to flank and kill them before my VSD burns down from those shots..and even then I'd probably be inclined to trade my VSD for a win. Also, advanced gunnery with a Raider might be hilarious in cases where I don't want my VSD points to hurt me that much.

Assault frigate Mk2 is by far one of the best ships in the game if not the best currently. I don't seem them becoming that bad with Wave 2. If anything better, but tractor beams may stop a conga line if you swing that way.

Tractor beam VSD 1's are actually going to be a terror to behold for rebels.
