I've not seen anyone discuss this matter or post any images, so I was curious whether anyone else has painted different versions of R2 and 3PO. I did a few for a planned campaign for either players or for NPC fillers. My paint jobs aren't too great but after being inspired by Sorastro, like many others, I delved into trying my hand at painting and I'm quite happy with them for use in the game.
I was wondering when someone would do this. I was thinking about the potential. And hey, Threepio has a red arm in The Force Awakens so there's another variant there.

Great job I especially love that green astromech. I'm in the same boat as you, I was inspired by Sorastro, although I am just doing my own thing. I like this concept of alternate paint schemes. I plan to do the elite e-web engineer as a storm commando and have a squad of shadow stormtroopers.
I was trying to paint the r2 units in the colors of the various R2 upgrades from X-wing, for the Green astromech, R2-D6, I did a mix of the paint scheme on the card and the one of wookiepeedia. I also ended up painting more, and sort of still want to do more I've just had a fair bit of fun painting them.

I was thinking of doing one of my future 3POs as Triple Zero, though BT, unless I was to just do the color scheme would require a decent amount of moding. As for the next R2 I'm thinking of R2-F2 so I'll have 1 of each X-wing astromech R2 upgrade. I wouldn't mind trying to do one as a R3 droid, though I have no idea how I would convey the clear dome part.

And then make you feel horribly guilty as you use Integrated Astromech to discard the droid in exchange for soaking a damage?
Triple Zero as someone requested, he came out alot better than the picture shows, spent a while trying to get a decent shot with very little luck. I'll try a few more times and hopefully be able to post a better visual of him.
