Hi team,
What would a good option be in regards to an infiltrator type Imperial who needs to get around the galaxy both swiftly, quietly and in relative comfort? He is built to be an Elite Scout Trooper promoted to Imperial hitman, more or less.
What kind of craft could he feasibly use solo? Or, what smaller craft come with a relatively minor crew complement.
Thanks in advance for answers!
Imperial Assassin/Spy spacecraft choice
As for ships, both the VT-49 Decimator (Fly Casual) and the Skipray Blastboat are options, but require a small crew, and the former is straight up an Imperial ship. The Firespray and JumpMaster 5000 might fit as well, or any of the different patrol boats, as they're smaller and one-crew.
You might also find something in LibrariaNPC's freighter thread.

I have an Inquisitor NPC in my campaign that uses an A-24 Sleuth-class scout ship (Enter the Unknown). Honestly, I feel like anything in EtU will be good for your needs.
Could consider the TIE Phantom... Stealthy, powerful, fast, single-pilot.... Sounds pretty much perfect for the solo assassin on the go.
If he's a hitman, I'd go the "hidden in plain sight" route and give him a "stock" YT-2400 that's been tricked out completely on the inside.
For an Assassin/Spy I'd pick something that doesn't immediately scream "Sinister Imperial Operator" to everybody. A common freighter or yacht would allow the character to blend in easier, like a YT series (maybe a 1760 if you want some extra style) or a WUD-500.
I'm partial to the design of the Imperial Agents ship in SW:TOR, so I'd find some luxury yacht and have it remodeled. ![]()

Does it have a hyperdrive?

Yes. Class 1.
I'd be careful with the TIE Phantom. While awesomely cool, it is also exceedingly rare and hideously expensive. Not to mention that it has some drawbacks for an agent on the go, like no cargo capacity, no personal comfort (it's literally just a pilot seat and controls), no room for prisoners, no cargo capacity, limited sensors, no modification options, and no cargo capacity. Where's an agent to store all those cool gadgets they get to use?
Personally I'd go with one of the smaller, more customizable ships. The HWK-290, the A-24 Sleuth, the Pathfinder or even the Firespray. They're way more versatile, which will probably come in handy, and while not in possession of a cloaking device their relative invisibility owes more to the fact that they blend in almost anywhere.
It's going to depend on what their cover identity or identities are.
Everybody else has pretty much covered it:
A tricked out common tramp freighter would likely be the most versatile or a fast courier ship like a HWK-290 (although I think a HWK would be a bit small for "comfort") - they could be a smuggler, legitimate transportation/shipping, armed courier, bounty hunter, a modestly wealthy individual cruising the stars, &c. Or if their cover identity is very wealthy (think Sonny Burnett from Miami Vice), a yacht, newer HWK, or a completely custom fabrication (like Darth Maul's Infiltrator, Xizor's Virago, Dooku's solar sailor, &c.) might be more appropriate.
Imperial options are, of course, a Bad Idea. A VT-49 or TIE anything would simply be too obvious. Unless being an Imperial is part of their cover.
In any case, unless they have quite a bit of pull, the ship they use should probably be chosen from an Imperial impound lot, complete with an auction rigged to ensure that the character receives it without too much hassle. And, of course, if the original owner should get out of prison (released, pardoned, paroled, or escaped) - or the original owner's family or organization recognizes the ship - complications should arise.
If your character is going for subtlety and plans to fly under the radar, I would do as suggested and pick up a second-hand freighter or patrol boat. Some of the scout vessels only need 1 crew, but if it's the group ship, you'll need something larger.
If your character is akin to Cipher Nine, or James Bond in space, pick something flashy and loud. A Baudo-class yacht, a Luxury 3000, a Mon Calamari, a Nubian* ship (found in Suns of Fortune). Somethin' hot and swanky.
*(Speaking of Nubians, there's both the Racing Sloop and the Stealth Freighter.)
In either case, get your hands on a few choice mods. Heavy weaponry and encrypted HoloNet communicators. Suped up hyperdrive and sublight engines.
My PCs are running round in a YT-2400 and have just come across the Yiyar clan in Beyond the Rim so that is out. I'm liking the idea of a converted pleasure yacht or liner, as the single seater and obviously Imperial options do limit his movement.
For now he's a Scout Trooper (he was the one who stows away inside the PC ship in BtR) and the group thought he was badass, so I fleshed him out in the hope he survives whatever goes down next and can become a long term rival for them.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
