... at some point?
I mean ... new damage deck and updated printed rules?
This would make sense, won't it?
Would be cool if FFG put an Integrated Astromech card in as well, for an instant fix for the X-Wing for new players.

we all want to have some Integrated astro. FFG should put 2 copies in T-70 expansion. But I'm afraid that this won't happen.
FFG please don't turn into second GW!
I really do hope they release the new deck in the old set. I also really hope they update the rules.
I'm not sure they will. Maybe a reprint after the cards are completely tourney-illegal? Maybe, just maybe. They're not usually evil about these things, after all.
Integrated Astromech? Pfffft, no. They never change the cards, which is why flying Advanceds now costs $115. Oh, and you get a free mantelpiece decoration. ![]()

If they don't they should... at this point.

The original core set is being reprinted so one would hope the rule book is being updated
As for the damage deck....
Yes, as X-Wing Core Set Second Edition, in a couple years. New damage deck, rebalanced ships, updated rules....
Prediction, not proof.
Why would they change anything? People are buying like crazy because of this nickel-hunting business model.

Sure they nickel-hunt a little but past history indicates that they make the right call on customer issues like this. A perfect example was the scum Z-95s and Y-Wings. The forum hard-ass brigade was telling everyone they'd have to buy extra sets for the faction specific dial and this was somehow the right thing since Games Workshop buggered their customers 300X as hard, plus something about space marines.
FFG evaluated the situation, realized that making someone re-buy multiple copies of ships they already owned for dials was a terrible customer service decision. They changed their rules on the faction specific dials. I fully expect reprinted original cores to have the new damage decks, because from a customer service standpoint, that is the right thing to do, and I've yet to see FFG not do the right thing in these cases.
Haha ... they really could remake the original Core set and add some must-have cards in addition to the original contents to make us to AGAIN buy core sets.
Like a new Tie Fighter pilot and a new X-Wing pilot card ... while I can resist rebel pilots cards, I cannot when it is about new TIE/ln pilots ;-P
I was under the impression that the new core set was updated and it is now the core set with the TIE/FO and the T70....
Am I missing something here? I've played years of MTG (which releases a new 'core set' every **** year) so I was under the impression that the new Xwing core set is the starter set to get yourself going now, the other ships are not obsolete, unless of course you want the core set with the xwing and ties, rather than fo and t70.
I get it has the new updated rules and updated damage deck which I was told was going to be the new damage deck for use in the tournaments now, as well as 3 new ships to make it worth the purchase (which to me it is). FFG has to travel down a long dark path in order for it be like GW, so lets not get crazy here.
Edited by StainlessSteelTIE/foo != TIE/ln
X-Wing != T-70
There are base set exclusive pilots like Luke Skywalker.
The 2 core sets now co-exist, more or less.
Hmm, this is a possibility. Normally I would lean towards "no" on things like this, but since the old damage deck is going to be obsolete, I think we'll eventually see it replaced.
I don't think it's a bad thing, either. Why would you sell players a deck that's not tournament legal?

Surely you don't WANT that?
I was in a Barnes and Nobel last Wednesday or Thursday and they had completely restocked. They had at least four of each new set and the old set, considering the old core was in the reprint stage and became available as soon as the new core did then I would hope the new one has been updated as well. They were all new packages and weren't there the week before. What we need is someone who has bought a new old core set in the last couple of weeks to give us an idea of what's in it.
Why not? Only including the new damage deck in the new core set seems like a low investment that moves more product, because people who buy the first core set will eventually become interested in buying the second, also. And the old damage deck is still valid for casual play, so it hasn't been replaced in terms of game editions, has it?Hmm, this is a possibility. My understanding if the new damage deck is that it's so much better that none would want to use the old.
If that is the case then FFG should be replacing the deck that comes in the original core for future reprints.

Yes, but what about the cards that only come in huge ships? And some are fixes (i.e. Tie Advanced, which is pretty much unseen in competitive play because, well, it is so **** expensive).
FFG could just sell those cards separately (even though I believe they should provide them to everyone who bought the game, but heck - you have to fork out so much cash just so that you can take some ships you like to tournaments and not get trashed).

Yup, and this as well. But we all know this just won't happen. I have 3 old core sets, and don't really want to buy the new one. So what, I can't go to official tournaments because I don't have a new deck (and nor can I buy one separately, even though I believe they should be given out without charge).
That is a lot of nickel-hunting to me.
And please, don't come saying "stop playing" because we all know that is not going to happen ![]()

I am totally not interested in buying the new core set but now I have to, if I want to take part in official tournaments. This sucks, I really hate being pushed things.

It's only nickel hunting if you look at it from a competitive perspective and even only if you only believe you need everything. There's no reason that everyone who bought the game needs a new damage deck.

Yes, it is nickel hunting from a competitive standpoint only. Then again, most people I know play it competitively.

I started a thread on it as soon as it shows as in stores. No response from anyone that had purchased it. We may never know. Likely that it still has the old deck as the old deck is requited until January. Maybe the next reprint will update it.

That's not the same thing as "most people." Also, as I said, it's not like competitive players even need to make all those purchases either.
I'll be surprised if the new core doesn't get the new damage deck at some point. I'd think we'd hear if it has the new one now, but I'm not sure if anyone who posts here has bought one lately.
