IMAX is the only 3D that doesn't bug the hell out of me.
Final trailer news
I never liked movies in 3D, which is why I opening night I opted for standard movie tickets rather than 3D. However, a buddy of mine can't make it opening night, but still wanted to watch it with me. Since he wanted to watch IMAX 3D, I also got tickets to that the following Sunday. It will be interesting to compare the experiences.
I'm thinking of going twice (if I get my way) so once in standard and once in IMAX 3D may be an option for me also. I kinda wanted to "screen" the movie for my 5 year old daughter first before having her tag along on the second viewing if I thought it wouldn't be too upsetting for her. This movie doesn't have a JarJar-HarHar feeling to it based on trailers. Add to it speculation of major, loved characters dying and I'm not sure a 5 year old who loves her Han Solo and Chewie figures should go see it?
Oh, and here is the Star Wars: Force Awakens Supercut that I previously mentioned:
I hope that lightsaber duel is just a complete mess. One Vader wannabe and one complete novice just swinging at each other with all the finesse of children with
stickschainsaws.

It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
One doubt, what is the difference between 3D, Real 3D and IMAX 3D? (if there is any XD) And what would you suggest apart from ALL OF THEM XD
Thanks
3D: A film that uses fancy tricks and glasses to give the appearance of depth.
Real 3D: A particular brand of fancy tricks and glasses to give the appearance of depth.
IMAX 3D: A film shot on 70mm film (as opposed to the typical 35mm) that uses fancy tricks and glasses to give the appearance of depth while maintaining detail on a gigantiod screen.
Which one should you see? Probably none.
Star Wars TFA wasn't shot in 3D, it's shot on a combo of different 2D formats (including 35mm and 70mm IMAX) and then converted to 3D after the fact. So when JJ was planning shots, processing exposures and color corrections, editing, compositing, and so on, he was thinking 2D from the start. As a result it's probably going to have all the same issues most films converted to 3D have (weird image artifacts, dark muddy exposure, jumpy fuzzy action scenes). So if you want to see it in 3D, go for it, but it'll probably look clearer, cleaner, and generally better in 2D. It'll also cost you less and likely be in a less crowded theater...
And in case you were missing him.
Aaaand now I'm depressed ![]()
I bought my tickets for the evening of the 17th at 10:30 here in the Great White North. I'll have to wait till then. Had to go with the later show in case I work that night.
All this talk about: midnight screenings, 'gold/premium seat tickets where staff bring you drinks, going mad while put on hold etc etc.. me? I'm gonna wait for the Premiere on the BBC,,, probably Christmas 2017.......
YEAH RIGHT
Not going to happen. Netflix in Canada!
I really do hope they don't do to Kylo what they did to Maul, although evidence points to that being the case.
?
Kylo Ren with mech legs
Looks like he got rejected from Star Fox, made the mistake of cutting off his legs before getting accepted, and went overboard on the leg amputation. (I was watching the Fox McCloud verus Bucky O'Hare Death Battle last night and they claimed all the members of Star Fox have their lower legs replaced with cybernetics. It sounds crazy but I'm guessing there has to be some basis for the idea.)

Unfortunately even if she doesn't see it she will find out what happens within a couple of minutes of returning to school or talking to a friend that has seen it at the latest,

Yes but that pales compared to a 5 year old actually seeing her beloved Star Wars character get suddenly and unexpectedly gutted by a lightsaber. If I already know what is coming I can always tell her to cover her eyes for a few seconds, something scary is about to happen. Plus, it's an excuse to go twice! "But honey it's not about being a Star Wars nut it's all about being a good parent!" ![]()

I approve of this parenting technique by the way.
I would love it if Jar Jar has a cameo in TFA. The haters heads would explode.

As Rey explores the crashed Star Destroyer, she stumbles into a cell block. She walks into a cell and picks up an old interrogation droid off the ground, blows the dust off, examines it, and slips it inside a satchel. As she leaves the cell, you catch a glimpse behind her of a shackled duck-billed skeleton?
Edited by SturnJar Jar is Snoke.
Given that Abrams joked about showing Gungan bones in the desert, and that midi-chlorians won't be uttered in his movie, somehow I think we can rule out an appearance by Goofuss.
That's not gray hair, that's an off-camera lens flair.
So, international trailer, anybody?

It's practically a whole new one.
Spot Trailer #3 at 0:50 makes me happy. I was finally able to pick up a 6" Black Series First Order Trooper, but he was a "Riot Control" version. He had the usual blasters, but also had what looked like a scifi PR24 police baton and a shield. I figured it was just something made up to sale another figure, but grabbed it anyway since Stormtrooper Fan + Cop. 0:50 shows what appears to be the baton!!
