Ship suggestion thread

By Vector, in X-Wing

Amongst the dozens of lists for ships to be added to the X-Wings Miniatures Game, I would like to create a constructive thread that lists every possible ship which could be added.

The great thing about the game is that it adds ships from both the original Legends continuity and the New Canon continuity. Here are ships that could be introduced to the game, which appeared in Star Wars media between 19 BBY to around 25 ABY (Legends) or after the events of Episode III to the Sequel Trilogy (New Canon).

Rebel ships

- Calrissian Runner , a modified TIE Advanced

- Caravel

- H-60 Tempest bomber

- H-Wing aka BTS-A2 Long-Range Strike Fighter/Bomber

- Lady Luck , a SoroSuub Personal Luxury Yacht 3000

- M -class starfighter

- R-41 Starchaser

- Raven's Claw

- Sand Sloth , a Starrunner -class starship

- Sundered Heart (modified version seen in Empire at War )

- T-Wing interceptor aka R60 T-wing interceptor

- V-wing Speeder Transport, Model A with V-Wing airspeeders

Imperial Ships

- Carrion Spike

*Could also be a First Order starship.

- TIE Hunter aka TIE/HU Hunter multi-role starfighter

- TIE Oppressor

- TIE Raptor aka TIE/rpt starfighter

- TIE Scout aka TIE/sr starfighter

- TIE Warhead aka TIE Experimental M3

- Ye-4 gunship

Scum & Villainy Ships

- Blood Brother , a modified Consular III -class cruiser

- Steel Fist , a heavily modified YT-1300 light freighter

*Suggested pilot: Kolig, Thanis Gul-Rah, Padak, Sufar

First Order

- Carrion Spike

*Aletrnatively, could be a Galactic Empire ship.

Prequel & Old Republic Era ships

There are many ships from the Prequel era and Clone Wars, and the Old Republic era, that have appeared in various media set during the Galactic Civil War used by members of the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire, as well as smugglers and privateers. Whilst there are many ships from those eras that would be great to have, for now lets just list ships that have appeared in media set after the events of Episode III. Just to clarify: I'm not suggesting a new Clone Wars era or Old Republic core set.

- Borvo the Hutt's freighter

*Suggested faction: Scum & Villainy

*Role in GCW: Though Borvo the Hutt was active during the GCW, his ship was not seen in any media set during that time. However, it is possible for the ship to still exist during this period.

- Defender -class light corvette

*Suggested faction: Rebel Alliance

*Suggested pilot: Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Bothan spy(?)

*Role in GCW: In 3 ABY, Luke and Leia stole a blue Defender on the planet Feddasyr and used it to rescue operatives in an effort to steal a shield generator.

- Jedi Starfighter aka Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor

*Suggested faction: Rebel Alliance

*Suggested pilot: Wedge Antilles, Rachi Sitra, Dorn Tavers

*Role in GCW: In 3 ABY, after crash landing on Geonosis, Wedge Antilles discovered the Jedi Starfighter and used to it to leave the planet and after defeating Imperial escort carriers with it, returned it with its Hyperdrive ring to the Rebel Alliance fleet.

- V-Wing starfighter aka Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing starfighter

*Suggested faction: Galactic Empire

*Role in GCW: The ship was used by the Galactic Empire during the early years after its establishment until succeeded by the TIE Fighter, and later used by Ennix Devian's Restored Empire remnant during the New Republic era.

More ships that aren't listed, suggest them and they'll be added. Also discuss any of the ships listed here.

Better just to ask the mouse what JJ has cooked up. You can be assured that what ever the mouse has showing will be included in the next few upcoming waves.

Why go on to New Canon and EU/Legends ships when there are ships from the original trilogy still not represented in the game?

Those are all atmospheric craft - even if some of them may be technically capable of deep space operation, they'd be thematically rather ill-suited.

So? Just because we don't see them in space in the movies, are you sure?

Really, we're accepting atmospheric flight physics in a vacuum and spaceships that make engine noises in a vacuum, and yet we insist on drawing the line at "airspeeders" in a tabletop war game? Why ignore what's in the original films while simultaneously making things up out of whole cloth (Raider)?

What if I want to recreate the escape of the Millenium Falcon from Cloud City and have Cloud Cars dogfight with TIEs?

Yeah, I'm really not seeing it. As a scenario play, or as part of an expansion to incorporate X-wing into ground combat, so we can fly Y-wings to torpedo AT-STs? Sure, that'd be awesome.

As a generic wave release, throwing Cloud Speeders into the firefight against TIE Interceptors? Yeah, no.

Yes, we do.

Gotta agree here. Simply wouldn't make sense unless FFG wants to expand X-wing minis into ground combat as well. Might be kinda cool, but it would involve making A LOT of new minis and would almost be a new game in itself.

In a game where we can routinely see Dash Rendar's Outrider escorted by Corran Horn in an E-wing face off in a dogfight with Chewbacca and Leebo flying freighters, I think you choose interesting places to draw lines.

But so be it; we can agree to disagree.

Han vs. Han. Which one shoots first?

Han vs. Han. Which one shoots first?

The one with veteran instincts.

Wrong, they both have Roark with TLT. The correct answer is 'the one who gets initiative after they both had built lists of 98 points'.

I would love to see the N-1 starfighter in the game. Not gonna happen, though.

I would think the N-1 would have the best chance of all the prequel/CW ships of getting into the game (on the rebels side obviously). The other ships I would rate as most likely would be V-wing for scum AND Empire, and maybe the Eta-2. Maybe. Both would be far less likely though. I would wager we see the Gunboat AND Missile Boat before any prequel ships (i mean outside of Gozanti and anything else that just happens to appear in episodes 1-3 and CW carton despite also appearing in other media).

Strange how no one mentions the Clawcraft anymore.

I need to see an Imperial Defender/Phantom list go up against a Rebel Defender/Phantom list. But. Like, 4 different ships.

I need this. Please FFG.

My worry is that the models are going to get really fiddly and breakble. Abrams seems to love sensor arrays and other superflous crap sticking out of his ships :)

I draw the line at spaceships in my spaceship shooting game. That's about it.

Timeline stuff? Clearly, an interesting set of "What ifs".

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Jewel

The only problem I can think of is its size. According to ship specifications, the Star Jewel is 160 metres long, compared to the Raider-class corvette which is 150 metres long, and that was a fairly large model. However, if FFG is able to produce the Star Jewel without encountering any problems, I'll be all for it.
