What's better than a turret ship?

By patox, in X-Wing

A double-turret ship that's also canon.

Looks like the love child of an E-Wing and half a YT-1300. What the hell is it?

What the hell is it?

It's the Volt Cobra, the ship owned by Han Solos (alleged) wife Sana Solo and is the ship that's actually (allegedly) faster than even the Millenium Falcon!

A freighter that can't freight. Wonderful.

Weird arc opportunity.

That tie fighter attacking from underneath has it figured out.

A freighter that can't freight. Wonderful.

Why not? We currently have freighters that think theyre interceptors! :P

Boom - headshot!

and what in blazes is this from?

Unless there is a third one hidden underneat, it doesn't actually have more turrets than the Falcon, Outrider or the Decimator.

Marvel's Star Wars comic, latest issue. I think it is up to 10 now?

A very good comic to read.

The Falcon already has dual quad turrets. I'm surprised there isn't some fanboy insisting that it should get two attacks each round in different directions.

thought for sure this'd be a TLT thread (...four turret ships!)

so that's something at least :P

<sigh> And now it is a TLT thread! (lol)

Ehhh. As noted, the Millenium Falcon and Decimator both have double turrets.

When they first came out, I assumed that the second turret was why Gunner was a reasonable pick for the ship - "Oh, of course, there's a second gun they're shooting!".

Turns out the rule is, uh, a teeny bit more permissive than that (Hello, Phantoms!), but it seemed plausible at the time. :)

You asked for it. :P

Double as in Twin, Twin Laser Turrets are better than 3 PWT :P

Please no, no more rebel turrets.

Always assumed "turret" referred to a pair of weapons, or whatever is needed to cover 360°.

It should. That's not a fanboy concept, it's just common sense! LOL Perhaps if FFG release a set of updated 'advanced' rules one day we'll actually get a sensible space dogfight game. :)

Semi off topic: I have to say the art looks very good....... And I read Star Wars comics for a looooooong time before college ripped my disposable income away from me.

Weird arc opportunity.

Semi off topic (bit in a different way): I've wondered if there'll ever be a small or large ship with only side arcs. It would definitely have to be flown differently than anything currently out.

Objectively better than 1 turret ship.

Well of course, it is a Star Wars EU story.

Common sense would require a physical person in the gun seat capable of using it. Therefore all these 3po builds with no extra crew should be forward arc only ships and limited to ordnance to boot.

The Falcon actually makes sense to me with how its dual turrets work: It only gets a second attack if you have Gunner or Luke Skywalker (who in his art is manning one of the turrets).
