After the Fall PbP gathering players

This game is an Infinity, the premise of which is:

Anakin Skywalker arrives a few seconds too late to stop Mace Windu from killing Palpatine. In his rage at the loss of what he believes is the only means by which his wife might be saved, he kills the Jedi Master by hurling him out the window using the Force. Skywalker assumes command of the Grand Army of the Republic and initiates Order 66. Consumed by the Dark Side, he and the 501st Legion then kill everyone in the Jedi Temple. Meanwhile, General Grievous kills Obi-wan Kenobi on Utapau before Order 66 is received. Grievous then escapes to continue leading the CIS. Yoda kills Skywalker in the Senate building. Bail Organa becomes Supreme Chancellor in an emergency session of the Senate.

The Separatists obliterate Tipoca City by orbital bombardment, ending clone production. Less than six months later, Coruscant falls to the ever-increasing might of the Separatist droid armies, as does Alderaan and many other worlds. Without replacement clones, the Army of the Republic cannot sustain escalating battle losses. Grievous declares himself Emperor after eliminating a couple of CIS leaders and several Republic senators. This example is not lost on outspoken senators like Mon Mothma and Garm Bel Iblis, who flee and join Bail Organa, Padme Amidala (and her twins), and the remnants of the Republic navy out in the Rim Territories. A much-reduced Jedi Order led by Yoda scatters as the Empire mercilessly hunts them down.

The Clone Wars segues directly into the Galactic Civil War, with the Alliance to Restore the Republic fighting an insurgency against the new Empire. What would normally be 19 BBY in a canon timeline becomes year zero of the Imperial Era (0 IE). The campaign begins a few months after the creation of the Empire. The galaxy remains fractured and ablaze. Many sectors continue to openly resist the Empire, and with the bulk of what used to be the Republic navy under rebel control, the Empire is far from having the iron grip on the galaxy it would have had under the rule of Sith lords.

The Rebel fleet does contain clones. On the few ships that have both Jedi and clones aboard, relations are frigid between them. While the clones hold no antipathy for surviving Jedi (the clones were just following orders), the Jedi, understandably, do not trust clones after troops that had been thought to be honorable turned on their commanders. The Jedi Order was betrayed, and most Jedi will not work with clones, viewing them as less human than a protocol droid. At least droids are loyal.

The game will be hosted at this board. Further details about the game, character creation rules, and sign-up can be found in the game's OOC thread.

There are two is one slot remaining to be filled:

  • Pilot-owner of a light freighter (cannot be a Jedi, but may be Force-sensitive)
  • A 'Face' character (can be a Jedi Padawan)

I don't want to be a stickler for details, but how would Anakin know about Order 66?
And even if he did, that order could only be given by the GAR Supreme Commander, which would not be Anakin even if Palpatine was dead.

Sorry to spoil it, but it might come up with some of the players who are a bit more picky.

Here's the exact wording of Order 66:
Order 66: In the event of Jedi officers acting against the interests of the Republic, and after receiving specific orders verified as coming directly from the Supreme Commander (Chancellor), GAR commanders will remove those officers by lethal force, and command of the GAR will revert to the Supreme Commander (Chancellor) until a new command structure is established.

Actually, speaking of Order 66...

Why didn't the clones attack Anakin?

He never officially resigned from the Jedi, and the order was to remove all jedi officers with lethal force.
And he was certainly a jedi officer, still.

So logically, any clone that saw him should have opened fire.

Meh, just roll with it, Odd. Its already a universe full of aliens, faster-than-light travel, lightsabers and blaster pistols. =) Whats one more little ticky-tack thing?

Too late.

It's an Infinity. Not all the picky details need to be the same. Palpatine might have left secret instructions/orders. Including revealing Order 66 and handing control to his protege in the event of a disaster. Sidious always planned for all possibilities. (Except Vader turning on him after 20-some-odd years.)

The players are more interested in having fun than dissecting a game to find faults.

Logically, the clones follow their orders, which were given by their new Supreme Commander, who happens to have all the correct recognition codes, and who is the same person who initiated Order 66 from the Chancellor's own office, from his secure comm station.

If the post of pilot is still open I would like to join. I have posted in the other forum.

If the Finale slot is still open. I would like to apply.. Working on setting up my account there now

Sure, but he only said "execute order 66" with no addendums of "but don't kill Anakin" or the like.

Then I'd put that explanation in there somewhere, in case any players start asking these questions :)

Good for you, that's not my experience with most groups though.

There's usually one player in each group that's really into whatever subject the RPG is about and comes up with questions like this.

I wasn't trying to be a ****, I was simply trying to preemptively point this out so the GM has an explanation in case the players point it out in the middle of a session.

Meh, just roll with it, Odd. Its already a universe full of aliens, faster-than-light travel, lightsabers and blaster pistols. =) Whats one more little ticky-tack thing?

Like I said, I'm fine with it.

Was just trying to be helpful by asking the kind of questions that some picky players might ask mid-session.

Sorry if it came off as me being aggressive or something.

The slot for a Face is still open. It's yours if you want it. I'd be most happy to have you. (I do read people's profile pages.)

Reading through the OOC now

With SnowDragon joining the game, recruitment is now closed. Thanks to everyone here at FFG's board for making this such a great place to find players.

One of the player slots has just become available in this game. There is a roguish character now being run as an NPC that can be taken over, or another non- Force-user may be created. Including a droid character, if that is your desire. Roles that are already filled include healer, techie, pilot, and face, so other concepts are preferred (duplication of roles is not advised).

I can heartily recommend this game. It is off to a great start, but since it only just started a new player will be with us practically from the start.

So, maybe I’ve missed something. What’s the schedule for this game? Would a player need to log onto the board on a daily basis, or could they do so weekly? Any other logistical details anywhere?

I might be interested in playing, but I need to know what kind of time commitment would be required, etc….

Thanks!

Players are expected to respond to posts that involve them (dice rolls, conversation replies, etc.) within a day, unless they give prior notice (on rare occasion) that they can't for some reason (going out of town, personal issues, whatever). Anything more and the pacing of the game is simply too slow, and players lose interest after a few weeks. I've been running PbP games for a couple of decades, and I've tried weekly and even semi-weekly. Anything slower than daily just doesn't work in the long term. I like to keep my players interested enough that they'll still be playing with me a year or two from now.

Fair enough. I can’t guarantee that kind of turnaround time, so I guess I’ll pass. Thanks anyway, and good luck!

Darn. You'd gotten me all excited. You're one of my favorite posters here on FFG. {sigh} Well, thanks for the interest!

Is the droid space open, still? I'd be interested in joining as a slicer or hacker droid. I just an unsure of what the filled role "techie" means. I run a game of my own at home and am familiar with pbp. Unfortunately, the last game I had joined for a pbp died out when the organizer had quit.

The droid slot is still open. The type of droid most needed is an astromech (need astrogation skill the most, as the pilot only has 1 rank). The engineer (techie) player has Computers 2 and Mechanics 1. So backup there wouldn't hurt, either.

Thank you for the compliment! I just wish I had a more reliable schedule so that I could commit to being available on a daily basis. ;(

Fancy. I'll get working on a trusty ol' rust bucket. Expect something from me later today! Thanks.
