Has anyone ever had issues with ruffles in a playmat? I just got this in after a month of shipping and just opened it to see this . I'm just wondering if there's an easy way to remove them and make it flat like it should be. I was thinking maaaaybe ironing it? I'm not sure if that would mess with the graphic or not.

I would contact customer service. They may just send a replacement out to you.

I saw another thread like this and the OP said he'd been stacking it upright and these went away after he let it lay flat for a while - does that match what's going on with you too?

Yeah. You should definitely ensure you store your playmat/s horizontally. Had exactly the same issue with mine (although not as bad from the look of your pictures). I now leave them laid flat in the boot of the car and the problem has completely gone away.

I had a similar issue on my mousepad-like mats (not the ffg ones). I hung it vertically via clothing hangers and clips and suspended weights at the bottom to hold it taught. Then I blasted it with a garment steamer to pull out the wrinkles and let it dry/cool.

Now I store my mats in a document roll case.

It looks like the fabric is de-laminating from the rubbery surface. Is that the case? Regardless, I'd send the pics through to Customer Service anyway and see what they suggest.

I had the same problem with a neoprene mat from another company. Apparently these ruffles develop if you keep the mat stored vertically .

I rolled mine out and let it flatten itself untouched over the course of a week. After that I kept it stored rolled up in a horizontal position and never had those ruffles appearing again.

(Should have been mentioned by the producer on the box the mat came in from the start as a maintenance advice...)

If you iron it, do so with a damp towel over it. the heat still goes through but its more controlled and you dont burn things

Huh. Mine did that for a while, and after reading through the posts, yes I stored mine vertically for a while. I've since not been doing it by coincidence, and the ruffles haven't been there for some time. Give that a try

I have 4 of the neoprenne type mats from three different manufacturers, I haven't had a problem with any of mine. I store them in tubes or I simply fold them up into a manageable size. about a 1/4 of the original size so that a 36" play mat would fit in the top of battle foam 216 pack.. I also never fold them the same way twice. I also don't force the folds I just let it fall into place.

Actually I used to use the highest heat setting with steam to iron my fatigues, but I wouldn't try that on a playmat. I'm fairly sure there'd be burning and melting followed by extreme outbursts of profanity, a playmat in the bin and an iron embedded in the nearest wall. But remember to unplug it first, as this can seriously hamper your range.

I'm having the same issue. Did you ever get yours straightened out OP?

If laying flat doesnt work try rolling them around a cardboard mailing tube. Put the wrinkles on the inside of the roll next to the tube.
