Fleet Points Allocation Percentages

By shmitty, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Over on my blog I just published a post where I looked at the percentages of points being spent on various parts of a fleet. <Link>

I was having trouble figuring out many points to spend on Ships/Admiral/Squadrons/Upgrades in my fleets as I moved up to 400 points. So, I looked at what percentage I had been spending at 300 points for some of my more successful fleets. For example, my fleet that I won 3 Sullust events with was 65/9/13/13%. This gave me a good starting point for building at 400 points.

I also went ahead and looked at a couple of other fleet archetypes that had been successful at Sullust events and saw things like 80/9/0/11% or 45/8/30/17%.

Anyways, looking at percentages doesn't tell you how to build a good fleet, but it does let you know where you are spending your points relative to some other lists. In comparing to lists from the Sullust events I came up with these categories:

Ships

0-60% - Light Ship Weight

60-70% - Medium Ship Weight

70+% - Heavy Ship Weight

Squadrons

0-10% - Light/No Squadrons

10-20% - Medium Squadrons

20-33% - Heavy Squadrons

Upgrades

0 - 8% - Light Upgrades

9 - 16% - Medium Upgrades

17+% - Heavy Upgrades

There is more on my blog, but I thought I would post this here as well in case anyone found it to be a useful tool.

Huh.. this is interesting. After reading this and looking over all my saved fleet builds i realized i tend to always do 85 percent ships and 15 percent fighters with minimal upgrades if any.

I noticed I definitely have some patterns too.

I really ended up doing this just to have an anser for new players that ask "How much should I spend on squadrons?" or "Is this too many points on upgrades?".

Good idea to look at fleet builds in terms of these proportions. Having looked at my last few lists I'm averaging out somewhere medium on these as well, with the exception of some Rhymer Ball action where my Ships spending drops under 50%.

I may take a look at how this type of comparison pans out when it comes to individual ships as well; trying to figure out at what point you're in danger of over-paying just to fit some kind of combo onto a ship or when you're able to justify adding another upgrade with any remaining points.

Wouldn't want to get too dogmatic about it, but I do like having a good bit of analysis in my toolbox!

One thing that stuck out to me was no matter what, you are spending 5-9.5% of your points on an Admiral.

Very much enjoyed this post. Well written, well reasoned.
