Range for ships attacking Squadrons.

By Kiwi Rat, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

After my very first game yesterday

I tried to look up in the beginner rules as well as the Reference guide rules, to see exactly at what range ships can attack squadrons.

But I couldn't find in any of the sections about when ships attack squadrons, at what range/distance the ship can engage squadrons.

Can ships attack squadrons at a longer range than squadrons can attack ships with?

Or is it only at distance 1 that they can attack each other?

So could someone clarify this for me?

The slightly confused Kiwi Rat

Under the "Attack" section in the rules reference, section 1. Declare Target , the first bullet point says "If the attacker is a ship, the defending squadron or hull zone must be inside the attacking hull zone’s firing arc and at attack range of the attacking hull zone."

So basically that just means that as far as determining the distance you can attack a squadron at, it works like attacking an opponents hull zone. The target just has to be "at attack range" which is determined by the range of the dice that make up the armament you are using. I.E. if the attacking ship's anti-squadron armament is made up of blue dice, the targeted squadron must be within medium range.

Ships range for anti squadron fire is determine the same way as ships range whn attacking ships. Byt the dice used.

So if your ship has blue dice in their anti squad armament, it can attack squads with thouse dice at medium range.

Some of the new ships have black and blue dice in their anti squad armament and so can use the blue dice at medium range but have to be at close range to use the black dice.

Okay I get it, thanks for the quick answers.

Oh just one more thing! Said inspector Colombo aka; Peter Falk :P

If my Glad has a X-wing in its forward arc and a B-wing in its rear arc, then I can only Attack each of them once with two blue dice each, right?

While if the X-wing and B-wing is by chance is covered in my forward as well as my side arc, can I attack each of them twice with two blue dice each (8 in total) ???

Would this be correct?

You can fire from 2 arcs total. You determine with each arc whether to fire at a single ship or at squadrons. Each squadron in each arc and that is in range is fired upon. So yes - if a squadron or multiple squadrons are in both arcs they can be hit multiple times.

2 seperate arcs total unless you have an upgrade that says otherwise (Gunnery Teams. Or the objective Advanced Gunnery)
