I was talking with a friend of mine about the YT2400, while not taking the title. It's still got a very good dial for a big ship. The list I thought up is:

Poe, PTL, BB8, Thrusters

Ps1 A wing, refit

Leebo, Anti Pursuit Lasers, HLC, Determination, Dash Rendar crew

Comes down to 99 points.

I've used the YT-2400 without the Outrider title way more often than with the title, and it works great! The title is awesome on Dash mostly, since he can dance around the playing area with ease because of his ability. For Leebo, I usually go "Determination, HLC, Recon Specialist, Hull Upgrade". The HLC is still a big threat but you don't lose the primary turret this way, so range 1 shots out of arcs are 3 dice. The "Predator, HLC and Recon Specialist" combo is very strong on Leebo as well.

I agree with admat----the YT-2400 has arguably the best large-based dial in the game since it has all the hard turns and banks available as options. Plus barrel roll on a large base is extremely useful, regardless of pilot skill.

I've only used the Wild Space Fringer with HLC and no title, since I think with a title it would be too easy for higher PS to get into the 'donut hole' (i.e. anything PS 3+). At 37 pts, its a solid HLC carrier having 2 agility and 5/5 hull/shield. Throwing on recon (for 40 pts) is not bad too if you have the points available

Eaden is a great ship not to put the title on. I flew Eaden + Mangler a few times and he's quite cool, very good for the points. He has a decent shot at having a 3 dice turret, depending on your opponent's squad. Of course I only brought debris fields, to make matters more interesting.

Yep, Eaden Vrill can be fun. He makes PTL addicts pay for it. Moving at PS 3 gives him awesome blocking ability with Intelligence Agent and Anti-Pursuit Lasers.

Having faced it Leebo without outrider is a fine choice. I'd recommend you save the points on the HLC and upgrade the A-wing, 7 points goes a LONG way with small ships. That's a green squadron with push and thrusters.

Dash is mobile enough to support the HLC and he is a better ship (from a design = fun standpoint) that way.

For lower PS YT-2400s, I'd recommend skipping the title, as they WILL have a harder time keeping people out.

Leebo can go either way. With Dash crew, I actually like to keep the title on him -- still build him fast and then have him constantly circle the asteroid field. His HLC shots don't care about range 3 and, thanks to Dash, no longer care about obstructions, it's a pretty awesome build. Leebo + Determination can help him survive if someone does manage to get in the donut, which is when you'll want some support from Poe (or Corran, or whomever you're running).

I was thinking of doing something similar with a TLT K-Wing w/ Dash, just due to the new big ship rules, but haven't tested it out yet. I've got a game night coming up next week that might be a good opportunity (if I can stop playing Empire long enough to test it).

A non-title Outrider with HLC is still pretty scary. It can be built maneuverable, meaning staying out of arc isn't always easy, AND it's still pretty threatening to anyone who tries to close to range 1 from anywhere else. While Dash can still be effective here, I do prefer to drop a Recon Spec for the added utility on offense and defense, and you can now use the 2400 as a bit of a blocker.

I love the YT-2400. I own two of them but have yet to make a list featuring 2. Maybe I could add that as well...

It's a 99 point list. Leebo does the circle madness while Eaden has some added bonus against stressed enemies. I like the idea of bringing debris instead of asteroids -- if you wanted to try that out, you could get away with swapping Rendar out for something else. Maybe drop EU on Eaden and Dash on Leebo to grab a Gunner for Leebo. Eaden probably won't be boosting too much. Leaves you with another two points to play with.

I can see if you went with Biggs and then the upgrade that caused your big based ship to obscure what was behind it. That would make Biggs more survivable.

I just played around with the squad builder and couldn't really find a way to make a list centered around that pack a punch. Ideally, you want Biggs at range 3, meaning his attacks are negligible. It could be a really survivable list (give him SD and put Jan Ors on the YT), but the damage output is extremely low (HLC wouldn't work because they're going to be closing in on you to get to Biggs). There aren't enough points left over to add a decent damage dealer. Maybe drop a small swarm, but I don't think they'd last (Biggs wouldn't be able to cover them AND stay behind the YT for the obstruction bonus).

Could drop Leebo's HLC to the Mangler to avoid the donut problem and then you'd have 4-5 points to put elsewhere. Perhaps replace Eaden's Recon Spec with Luke Skywalker something you can use.

I've found that when dash is playing the end game against one other ship, he's very good at arc dodging at close range, meaning the range 1 mangler is superior

Of course it is superior, but it also is idiotic, since you can just play any PWT at that point. The Beauty of Dashs design was that You had that huge risk/reward thing going on, where you could wreck stuff with the HLC, but be completely outmanouvered. Mango Cannon took that away and made you into another dicerolling machine. HLC has a better payoff, still, but if you don't trust your skills Mango is better.

The definite answer to that is: Depends on what you want to do.

Want a tanky, kind of boring Leebo? Give him Determination (good with his ability), Mangler Cannon + Outrider (since he doesn't have the PS to be reliable with the HLC in most cases) and a Recon Specialist. Want a sick uber Interceptor? Pick Dash, give him the classic "Super Dash" loadout with PTL, HLC, Outrider, Kyle Kartan and Engine Upgrade and spam the area with debris fields, so you can ignore obstacles entirely, while having both large base boost and barrel roll at your disposal. Just don't be on asteroids when it comes to shooting. If that is a bit too weak to stress effects your opponent might use, save some points and go with either VI or Lone Wolf, Recon Specialist and either Mangler or HLC with Outrider. An Engine Upgrade also is not a bad idea.

You can however also run them cheaper without the title. In that case the most common usage is either the generic or Eaden Vrill with an HLC and Recon Specialist or other crew to taste. Eaden might like a Tactician, for example. You could also use a Mangler Cannon. Keep them as light on points as possible, don't add useless things like an Engine Upgrade on low PS ships or Shield/Hull Upgrades.

Firesprays have been carrying cannons since wave 2 and doing well. The outrider has slightly better durability (1 extra shield compared to the spray's 1 extra hull). So I don't understand how they 'don't have enough defense to really make it'.

The Outrider has a lot more freedom to move defensively, whereas a non-outrider YT has a lot fewer options, though, to be fair, a 2-die shot is still available when playing defensively, I suppose.

Only that I (personally) prefer Moldy Crow over Recon Specialist, since it makes you incredibly action independant. You no longer are confined to greens in order to be shooting well with Jan. An unexpected white keeping your stress can be game winning with dice modifications still availiable. It also makes you less weak to being blocked. The downside is, that you will, unless you take a really slow approach, generate less focus than with the Recon Specialist, but since you have a TLT and not a Blaster Turret, running out of focus isn't as bad.

I like it, 4 ships... but it totals 101 points, not 99. Maybe remove VI on Jan? Or switch the TLT to Blaster Turret?
