R5-P9 has a home, It is on Poe

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

So flew this list:

Poe

  • R5-P9
  • Auto-Thrusters

Kyle Katan

  • Recon Specialist
  • TLT

Horton

  • TLT

Lets just say that TIEs were wiped off the map. Now to be clear I was up against a non-autothruster Soontir which succumbed fairly easy to TLT as well as up against Echo without VI but I had iniative anyways so it wouldn't have matter that much. TLTs work at stripping off tokens such as 2x focus and evade from both Soontir and Echo and Poe was able to deal the death blow to a Echo and a couple of TIE Fighters. As for Poe he ended with full health. Kyle was fairly beat up suffering a weapons failure but his focus generation was more important so I just used 2 shot TLTs for the rest of the game and still hit targets fairly well as Green dice fail against the onslaught of Red dice. Horton was perfect at stripping off tokens as you had to get all 3 evades to stop damage.

Of course. That's the standard loadout now.

IMO, horton costs too much. Getting VI on Poe is just too good.

Also that guy really should take auto.

I prefer BB-8+PTL for the increased mobility and action economy. R5-P9 makes him stupid hard to kill but you become very predictable and can't arc dodge.

That where the TLTs come in. Kill the Arc Dodgers first (which you should always do) and then Poe can go toe to toe with anyone left.

I have been thinking of equipping a Blue Leader with R2-D2 in there instead of Horton as well as having Jan Ors<crew> on the HWK to make two stupid hard to kill T-70s and also (so I don't have to run Blue Leader into a rock). But right now 2 TLTs are better and just have 2 stupid hard to kill ship.

If you have a point spare, Cool Hand finishes that loadout well (once it comes out) - meaning Poe still has a focus token as he comes out of a Koiogran or Talon maneuver.

I find if your not prepared for tlt even one can really make your life difficult, I forsee sales of starvipers increasing.

I tried this recently and it worked very well:

Poe (VI, R5-P9, Autothrusters)

Blue Ace (BB-8, Autothrusters)

Keyan (PTL)

100 points

I wonder if unkillable Poe works well with R2-D2 Corran for a pair of very hard to bring down ships.

Only 20 points left with this combo:

Corran (PTL, R2-D2, FCS)

Poe (R5-P9, Autothrusters)

Maybe a Green (PTL, Chardaan Refit)? Or a Gold (Autoblaster Turret)? Or Cracken (VI)?

The only negotiable in my Poe builds is the EPT, my favorite is Lone Wolf, but too situational. Maybe in Corran two ship.

Lone wolf is great but tricky more than once it's been useless because the other guy refused to kill the cheap chaff I sent in first, darned uncooperative if you ask me.

You could also run Lt. Blount with an Ion Pulse missle.

I honestly can't run anything else besides Blount and Advanced Homing Missile if I have 20 points left. Blount is like "Here's your crit."

Blount with Ion Pulse Missiles is 20 points too

Or you could run Adrenaline Rush which is much better in the situation you mentioned since you will eliminate the stress AND still get the focus?

Or Adrenaline Rush could do that now.

This just won a local tournament. He ran a base a-wing with auto thrusters and Chandraan refit) 17 points).

Poe had Lone Wolf. Corran had advanced sensors instead of FCS. Similar deal though.

Poe and R5-P9 need to appear on more ships.

I am struggling to see how Cool Hand is better than Adrenaline Rush, unless you do not already have the Evade action or are getting stressed from some ability instead of a maneuver.

Imagine for example against rebel captive, or with push the limit you can do a hard hittimg attack once, also with ordnance (can be a game crucial). Or you fly through obstacle that give you stress. But I think Push the limit is the best combo]

I've been running Poe + Corran since the new core came out. I've settled on the following as the most optimal for my playstyle:

Corran + VI + FCS + R2D2 + Hull

Poe + Predator + R5P9 + Autothrusters

Prototype + Chardaan

Very solid build, that's been preforming well for me.

I really like the TLT cover for Poe, except I'm using dual Adv.SLAM TLTs Wardens instead of Y's. I like closing the TLT donut hole with Ks.

You could also just run with 3 PS 10s.

Huh? you can't have PtL and Cool Hand on anything but an A-Wing.

And you basically repeated what I said. It is obviously useful against card abilities, but in a world where your opponent may or may not choose to have those in his list, Adrenaline rush seems the better choice...

The only other use I could think of was with the Scum Y pilot that can get a stress to re-acquire a target lock. But that's a pretty corner case.
