So I'm putting togethor a wave 8 preorder, and I find myself wondering if the Imperial Assault Carrier is schedualed to release with wave 8, earlier, or later. My plasticrack addiction hates unnecessary delays, and I'm not sure if I should put the carrier on the order or not.

there are only 2 reasons to pre-order:

1) there's a chance that the initial delivery run will be sold out (typically unlikely except for epic ships)

2) you can "Pre-Order" with your local store where you don't actually pay money straight away but they put the stock aside for you when it does arrive.

Otherwise there really isn't a good reason to pre-order ever as all your doing is giving money to someone now without having a concrete delivery date. if you really want to not spend that money on something else, put it in a savings account till release rather than giving someone else free usage of your money for 3+ months

My order has been placed with my flgs. Just waiting on a call. Which, knowing my luck, will come when I'm on vacation. And nowhere a phone.

Actually, alot of online places give cheaper prices on pre-orders and as the release date gets closer, the price goes up. For some people that's a pretty big incentive.

To answer the original question, the FFG announcement at GenCon was that the Gozanti would be first. In the video, CTP says that the Gozanti will be out in Q4 2015, and that they really hope Wave 8 will also be Q4, but it could well be Q1 2016.

That being said, it is possible that everything could change. We should get some more info soon.

There are more than two reasons to preorder. Reason 3 is a perfectly good reason, made largely for the sake of economics and convenience. But by all means, talk down to me some more.

The Gozanti is not a part of Wave 8 - no Epic ship has ever been part of a wave. So, if you pre-order them all together, either (a) the Gozanti will not be delivered until wave 8 ships, or (b) if the Gozanti is delayed for whatever reason, you will not receive wave 8 until the Gozanti ships.

As far as preordering... my FLGS absolutely sucks at preorder, giving no discount and never getting product until after everybody else anyway. When I preorder it is not until the product shows as "Now Shipping" on the Upcoming page. I still get my stuff before my FLGS, and I'm not paying months ahead for a release that may not happen on time anyway.

The Gonzanti is at the printer now, wave 8 is still in development. So that means the Gonz has at least a few weeks if not more lead time. I'd expect to see it mid November to early December myself.

Gozanti probably will come out in December while Wave 8 probably will come out in late February. Unless you don't mind waiting to get the Gozanti for a couple more months after everyone else gets one, I would preorder them separately.
