where is the terror?

By trane2, in UFS General Discussion

i was diging thru my binder a couple days ago looking a charecter to build my newest deck from when i stumbled across night terror. i've only used him once, at the death event at which i 3rd placed, and i wondered why more people don't use him.

he is chaos, evil, death 6hs 27vt E destroy 1 card in your staging area: destroy a comited non charecter card in your oponent's staging area of the same type as the card you destroyed for this abilty.

R commit: after your opponent plays an ability printed on their charecter, cancel it's efects.

i have only seen him used minimaly. why is night terror not competitive?

You're quite right, I have 2 of him in my binder and I've never played him. Perhaps it's because there are better characters under his symbols, namely Zi Mei. His character negation is nice, but with a commit is only useful once (unless you use, say, Nefarious Deeds?) and using that R at the right time is important.

Night Terror's destruction ability is also awesome, especially combined with Shadow Blade. Only problem is with Blinding Rage, Makai High Noble and Red Lotus of the Sun around, it becomes pretty useless.

he's not useless, but it's true zi-mei is beter. when i played him for the death event it was becuse i felt like a change. i had no idea i would 3rd place. he is pretty with donovan1's tech.

B2 has so many more options that he just doesn't look to great. B3 on the other hand is where he shines. B2 has other characters with better handsize and decent abilities that evershadow him, especially with the EVIL symbol.

i concur with havoc and i think night terror will see much more play come block3

He was a lot scarier before they banned the Injury assets.

he is definitively going to see play more often comes block 3.

For me, he'll probably replace my Cervantes 5, which will have rotated. Cervantes vvas cool to get momentum easily, he is a bit more "destructive", but reusable, so...

I'm still figuring around which symbol i'll build him... i'm waiting to see what the new set is gonna offer before making my decision.

But presently, since chaos got almost everythings, it's probable be chaos.

Red Lotus a problem? not with Olcadans around.

Makai High Noble? this one maybe...

Blinding Rage is more scaring than really effective... simply spot the foundations that got checked or are already on the board in numerous copies and voila! i've learnt this fact personally numerous time...

Okay... for now, I'm hesitating between him and Victor3 ...

what you guys think about Victor3? ( without the Reanimted or Defender loop reference plz )

definately. i was trying to get my hands on a full set of broken legs before they banned them for the express purpose of using them with victor or him. i do think he will see more b3 play seeing as death and chaos get a huge boost.

I agree now he has to find alternate ways of blowing up non useful resources but his abilities and resources should be good enough to top this season in my opinion.

There was a thread discussing Night Terror in depth on the old STG forums.

The general consensus was that he's good but not in the current metagame.

6 Handsize, relatively no playable card draw, and an ability that requires you to give yourself negative tempo against an opponent that will most likely be running card draw and will out tempo you due to your 6 handsize and no card draw.

He's good at dealing with threats, just not dealing with them efficiently.

thats a litle harsh. he deals with threats very well, their are just a lot of cards that deal with them beter and share symbols. in b3 he should be beter. at least he isn't almost uselese after the the injury asets went bang, like victor3.

Wait...what? Victor is useless with the injury assets going away?

You're joking right?

Going into block three right now, Victor has the most broken asset, and his own ability can produce some incredible shenanigans with Cage Arena, or simply pulling back a block you need to your hand. 6/28 is nothing to scoff at either.

Really, Victor is ridiculous. Have you seen tri-symbol builds of him? Past turn 3 you're not touching him, and you can't kill him Feline Spike or MegaLoops, the widely acknowledged current "best kills" in block 3.

sorry sometimes my jokes are 2 deep. Victor3 is god, he was just more of a god with broken leg.
