Happy Friday - Starwars Battlefront Demo is live for all

I'm so glad you have no idea what you are talking about :( . All power ups/vehicles are static spawns. They change as the map progresses. I've spent 5 hours on the game so far. I've played just about ever fps/tps you can think of, and this game here? I actually makes me feel like I'm part of a battle on Hoth or Sullust. It's a bit arcadey but that's what battlefronts MO has always been. If you want star fighter combat, wait for a stand alone game, battlefront 2s space combat was terrible and complete dribble at best. I have some respect for the air vehicles in this game because you feel like you are actually helping with strafe runs on enemy lines, and there is something satisfyingly fun watching an AT-AT fall to an A-wings lasers after the Y wings lower their shields, or tow cabling a vulnerable AT-AT.

All said and told, I didn't think this game was going to make me buy it day one from all the teasers, but the beta has delivered. Might have to get it both for the PC and buy a PS4 just to play with buds that only have consoles.

Vehicles as power up, seriously? Remember in Empire Strikes Back when Luke jetpacked his way up to an AT-AT, oh what, you mean they didn't have jetpacks in Empire Strikes back? They why in this game does everyone have a freaking jetpack like they are all Jango Fet? Also you got a PS4.

Lets just say I might not be an expert on game development but I will say this, games 5-10 years ago had better quality than now. Heck look at this current console generation (which I am skipping) two year in and developers are already saying that the hardware can't handle their games. PS2 is the best Play station. Sony made a PS3 to try and compete with the XB360 and it failed miserable. The Nintendo Wii U has the best selection of this generation but who want's a pad for a console? The XB1 was made because Sony was making a PS4 and the PS4 was made because the PS3 flopped. Bottom line is anything on the WiiU XB1 or PS4 is not worth the $60 price tag, and that is also why I am more into table top games instead of AAA market garbage video games.

Uh, not everybody has a jetpack. Everybody COULD have one but they earn it and you should not begrudge a man that has it, for they worked very very hard to get it.

As for older games being better than now..? Nope. I don't buy it. 2010-2014, yeah, those were dark years and you know what? We're coming out of it, I think.

Battlefront is good.

Who said I had a PS4? I said I might buy one. I'm playing on the PC right now. The graphics are great they actually lived up to the trailers unlike games of the past. Now I wouldn't call vehicles upgrades but the spawn point pick up for them are staticly located. Why are you hating on a game you so obviously haven't played long enough to judge? That's like playing X-wing with the starter rules and saying its to boring because of the simplifications.

Edit: might I also add that in every battlefront game there has been a class with jetpacks, so that line of reasoning is already flawed.

This is called nostalgia, and you should be intensely suspicious of it.

I am not completely sold. I did play couple games, then switched to Armored Warfare (and I am a SW fan). Will give it another go today.

Since it's SW I will probably buy the game but during a sale.

Now there are some stupid things of course. A Cycler Rifle shot down my TIE and your blasters can kill friggin' starfighters- where are the shields on X-Wings and A-Wings, man? Well the latter has a brief invulerability shield you can activate, but still. However, I'm cool with it! Blasters in Star Wars are REALLY deadly. Did you see the holes Han's DL-44 punched in the docking bay in Mos Eisley? That could hurt a starfighter no problem. Hell, you don't want your modern fighterplane getting hit by small arms fire either- not like the things are impervious.

FYI, X-wings and A-wings have a shield ability that you can activate for decreased damage for a short amount of time. Good for those missile locks.

That's your opinion, but I think the millions of people who have bought a next gen system would disagree with you.

Ps4 already sold as many ps2 within the same timeline or more.

Graphically this game is gorgeous.

At least the developer took time, they traveled to the location the movies were set, and to lucas farm. They done their research

Like I said, your opinion. Doesn't mean it's right, or speak for the millions others

Let's just say that if it comes down to the opinion of someone who has played the game and the opinion of someone who hasn't, I'll pay the most attention to the former.

Won as the rebels on Hoth before class this morning, I think we woke up half of barracks with our celebration.

Happy Friday!

Man, game night was a blast last night. I flew a bunch of stuff that I haven't flown in ages...or never flew before!

Col Vessery w/ VI

Maarek Stele w/ ATC, Mk II engine, and VI

2 x Epsilon Pilots (Tie FO) w/ Weapons Guidance tech

Haven't flown the Defender in a few months and always loved it. Haven't flown Maarek Stele since Wave 1! I seriously tried to make him work before. I never flew the FO's before. Man, their dial has so much green on it! I found the S-loops great for low PS pilots. I also loved the tech as it meant I could use my Focus for defense, but if not, I new who to shoot at (whoever used their tokens) and I could dish out reliable damage every time. It was a great matchup with Vessery, too.

I also got to play against Xizor, which was great as I am usually the one flying him. Man, he had Sensor Jammer and was hard to kill (my dice didn't help). I also flew against the YV-666 for the first time.

I will admit that my dice were just not doing well. I had 5 green dice at one point and rolled all blanks (not even a eyeball). I did it again and got a single Evade. It was just crazy bad. In my 2nd game, my luck continued while my opponent's was above average. At one point he grabbed my dice and rolled them. It was like Mario Cart and passing the thundercloud to someone else. My dice started to roll a little above average! I was able to claw my way back in that game. I took out Miranda, but lost Vessery and all my shields on my Adv. I didn't take another hit all game after that and hunted down his HLC Outrider that was untouched. It took forever and so much back and forth. It was an epically fun game.

As for BF, I was able to download it and get one 20 min game in before work called. I really wished I had worked from home today as it's dead! Half my team is on vacation and there is almost nothing to do. I wish I had stayed home and would play BF all day!

Do I think it's worth 70 bucks? No.

$70? Where are you looking at? Everywhere I see has it for $59. Also, if you pre-order it, you can get a further $10 credit either Xbox store or Best Buy.

You mean all the the Battlefield games, which have been declining in quality since BF2142. As is EA's wont, they've pretty much taken complete control of the thing and it's a shell of its former self.

I respectfully disagree with this opinion. I've played BF since '42 and loved all of them. Each version has had some issues with them, but I feel like they were addressed in the next version. I think they have only improved in time.

Let's just say that if it comes down to the opinion of someone who has played the game and the opinion of someone who hasn't, I'll pay the most attention to the former.

I loved it. I already told my son he can't play this weekend because I'm playing Star Wars.

Has anyone tried 2-player local multiplayer yet on the beta? Curious if I can get my son to play with me.

That's your opinion dude.

Whenever this is said I immediately disregard the rest of what the speaker has to say.

Umm, I saw this asked earlier. Where the frak can I download this from?????

You know, you kind of are right, but when the PS4 released you could build a PC that could do just as much for about the same. That is, in fact, what I did. I did add 100$ on top and now my PC overpowers anything the console vendors have to offer. It is going to be relevant just as long as the "next gen" consoles. Of course BF looks beautifull on PS4, too, but does it run at 60 FPS? How is the FoV, can you adjust it?

I enjoy Battlefront on my PC with smooth gameplay and an FoV of 95. It is a good game, way better than I would have expected, but I am still not willing to pay 60$ for it, it is not worth it.

Umm, I saw this asked earlier. Where the frak can I download this from?????

Through the PSN or whatever the XBN is called.

I liked it, played for a loooong time yesterday night. It has been a while since I sat and played a video game for over 5 hours straight.

My biggest gripe is it seems impossible for the Rebels to win the Hoth map unless they are totally ROFL stomping the Empire. Like seriously owning them. There are simply too many Imperial Vehicles/Weapons on that map that are 1/2-shot kills. I think the AT-ATs (and maybe vehicles in general) need to have less health or be seriously damaged when the Y-Wings are summoned successfully. The map is still fun, but when you play the Rebel side, you basically know you are going to lose and just try to rack up kills instead of really worrying about the mission too much. It takes away from the theme a bit.

My only other gripe is the random spawns. Every once in a while on the Drop-pod map you will spawn and then a new pod will be coming and 3 opposing guys will spawn 5 feet from you, or spawn directly behind you. I know why they are doing Random spawns, but I wish they separated it a bit so you would't spawn, get wrecked immediately from behind/the side, and be forced to spawn again. I suppose this is something I can play around, just a minor thing that happened a few times and was a little frustrating.

Yeah the spawning I found a crap-shoot on Sullust. Sometimes I'd appear right next to enemies also spawning.

Also, and this might just be me, but is anyone else finding themselves way worse than they normally are at shooting games? FPS's are what I play most often, and I'd consider myself pretty good at them (Halo, Titanfall, etc) but for some reason I can't hit a barn door in this game.

It's at it's worst in Walker Assault. I can't hit people 3 feet in front of me, yet I can get easily picked off in 1/2 shots by someone halfway across the map!

The game looks amazing and once we have all the levels and types, it'll be great fun to play, especially with friends. But right now being terrible at it is really hampering my enjoyment.

Not Impressed. Enjoy your random power-up drops.

I think the Hoth map's balance is perfect. The Empire is SUPPOSED to win, so only if the rebels are AMAZING should they be able to reverse the course of history. I love that idea.
