Does it say anywhere in the rule book or errata that you must have individual cards for each upgrade you attach to your ships? Suppose you construct a list and pay the points to have all of your ships equipped with Gunnery Team. If you have one copy of the card does any where in the rules state that you can only use that upgrade once? Could you have your list constructed and have a single copy of the card for reference. I was just wondering as it seems to be the general consensus that you have to have a separate card for each ship but I was wondering if some one could point me to a specific page in the rules that I could read that on.
Upgrade Cards
If you're playing at home/casually with friends a single "reference copy" or even making proxies is perfectly reasonable. For tourneys you need the appropriate cards. Proxies are disallowed on page six of the tourney rules sheet.
It is not 100% Spelled out in the tournament rules. There is an insinuation however.
From the Rules Reference guide:
• Equipped upgrade cards are placed next to the ship card to which they are equipped.
From the Tournament Rules:
Only official Star Wars: Armada components are legal for use in tournament play. Proxies of cards and ship models cannot be used. Third-party tokens and range rulers may be allowed at the head judge’s discretion.
The insinuation being that, if its not next to the Ship Card, its Not Equipped.
However, as I said, this is not 100% Spelled out in the rules.
What you will
generally find
is that in Casual Games, anything Goes. In
Tournament
play, it matters wether it is a
Casual
, a
Competitive
or a
Premier
event...
Casual events, well, you'll
most likely
get away with it.
However,
Premier
events and above, you're more likely to not...
So pretty much if I had one upgrade that I needed for 2 ships, I could not make a copy of it and use it?
Basically I would have to pay the $11-ish or $20+ for the upgrade card, correct?
Not in a tournament setting.
Only Official FFG products can be used in an Official Play Tournament. Proxies of cards (of which a Copy would fall) are not allowed.
