Time to face the Evil Empire of the Cards.
CUBS WIN!
Yay another Cubs fan!
Jake Arrieta is insane.
I just got tickets to the ALCS game one. Now my Blue Jays need to pull up their bloody socks against Texas. Just went to extras in game 2.
I'm a life-long die-hard Rangers fan, but I almost hope the Cubs win it just for the Back to the Future prediction.

I hate to say it, but after the last two games, you may get your wish. My prediction pre-Sunday's game was that if we didn't win the 3rd game, our shot at winning the 4th would decrease drastically due to lost momentum, and if we didn't win the 4th game, we wouldn't win the round.
One more win and it is on to the NLCS! This early start time will make a serious dent in my productivity this afternoon. Who am I kidding? The entire playoffs has put a serious dent in my productivity. I am a nervous wreck every game day.

I'm on the west coast here and the game starts at 1:37pm! Jeez... leaving work early I guess. I hope they can close it today. I don't think my heart can take a game 5.

I think they have the best AL team followed closely by the Royals. That lineup, when healthy, is a murderers row.
In other news, Belgium is now #1 in the FIFA rankings!

What is this FIFA you speak of?
Its that awful sport they play with the checkered ball. They kick it around for 90 minutes and a game can end in a draw and normally does most of the time.

So that's what happens in soccer. I always fall asleep about 10 minutes in due to the sheer boredom of the game...knocks me right out.
I generally only watch when you see the top favorite teams loose and the entire country goes to pieces.
Like when Brazil lost the world cup (7-1!) last year. Or the Netherlands not going to the world championships this year
Things aren't looking good for the Cubs.

It's time for me to start drinking heavily. To be honest, I never thought they would even make the playoffs before the season started.
True. Most people didn't they were suppose to be a .500 team this year. They definitely over-achieved this season. Still in it right now. Just need to get a win Tuesday and take it from there.
It's time to start drinking heavily. It's over. The dream is dead, long live the dream.

But at least it's more interesting than a bunch of guys standing around a field throwing balls passed each other and chewing cope.

Let's face it, every massively popular sport has some facets that are intrinsically boring. It goes part and parcel with "building tension". It means for some games you're on the edge of your seat awaiting the next event, and at other times the game is background noise while you're planning your next X-wing list.

Cubs fell completely flat in this one. I think it was a St. Louis hangover. Got past the big bad Cards and thought they couldn't be stopped. Mets pitching quickly has brought them down to Earth.

Bryant needs to work on not swinging at balls in the dirt. Before every pitch he needs to remind himself "If it's low, let it go. If it's high, let it fly."
It really pains me to say this but the Cubs either need Schwarber to learn how to play any OF position or trade him to the AL. He is an unmitigated disaster defensively right now. They NEED his bat, but he is a butcher in the field. If I see one more ball get by him to the wall I am going to have a stroke. There are 12-year-olds that have better OF instincts than him. I think catching is out of the question for him.
Soler is going to be a star. That dude can play.
Team defense is a real issue for this team. I think this team needs another season to marinate and they will be contending for the division title every year.
I think youth finally was their downfall in this series. Stage got a little to big for them and they ran into a very hot Mets team. But it was a good experience for the young players on this team.
They need to try Schwarber behind the plate. Wasn't that his position in college? If it doesn't work so be it.
There number one need is another starter in the rotation. Lester needs to learn how to pitch without David Ross. He's not good enough at this point in his career to warrant having a personal catcher. Ross is like having another pitcher in the lineup offensively.
Cubs went farther then I thought or anybody thought they would. It was nice to seem them compete and beat a team the caliber of the Cardinals. Things are looking up for this team. I'd like to see them compete for the division next year.
