one more thing, so i could place 1 ship, then place 6 squadrons ( in rotation of 2 each time) then place my other 2 ships?
Yes, so long as those squadrons were within the allowable distance of that Ship...
Its one deployment advantage that Squadron-Heavy forces get over pure-ship forces.
Yup. It allows you to tease out the opponents deployment so you can get a better advantage
Yup, you can place a ship, then pairs of squadrons, then other ships.
Just remember the rule about singles though - if you have an odd number of squadrons than that leftover one must wait till after all the ships have been placed.
This is a favorite tactic of mine.
For Imperials, sixteen points buys you a full deployment.
