So this weekend I'm going to be in Minneapolis, attending NerdCon. (I normally live in Portland, OR.)
On Sunday, after the convention, I'm planning to swing by FFG's Games Center.
I'm bringing some bare-bones X-Wing stuff (Armada being too bulky) to get a game in. Does anyone live in the area, and want to get a game in? Alternatively, does anyone know the scene well enough to tell me if I'll be wasting my time or not?
Armada is not that bulky! You just want to bring your ISD's with you.
Remember, you won't need to take a full Armada fleet with you - you can complete your fleet on the day with any new purchases you make

It's funny you should ask this - I went there about a month ago myself. Great venue. It was an early Sunday afternoon as I had arrived for a business trip that didn't start until Monday morning.
There weren't that many people there except for a few smallish groups playing board games and some Warhammer players. Also 2 younger kids playing X-Wing.
I asked about Armada at the register and they said they usually play there Tuesday nights. My read was that's probably the only time you'd see a game. The guy who runs it was working the kitchen that day and they offered to get him for me to chat but I declined.
I hung around for about an hour, picked up a game for my daughter, moseyed around, ate, and left.
Food was great though, and it's worth a pilgrimage but I wouldn't expect any hope of playing Armada unless someone here coordinates a game with you.
Yeah, in addition to bulk, I figure it's easier to get a pickup game of X-Wing than Armada.
It also looks like the community is going to put the word out and help me get a game in.
It's easier to get a pick-up game because you're not repping Armada ^_~
