Has anyone ever tried this?
3x rookie pilot
3x bandit squadron pilot
If you have I'd like to know how it went. Or is this just a terrible idea?

This was the Rebel Swarm for a long time... It's still a solid list, imo...
This list is a lot of fun to play. If you like red dice then this is for you.
It entered top16 in recent Italian national, flown by a young lady.
If you're okay with proxying the leaked X-wing buff, this is an alternative build:
Rookie Pilot x 4
Integrated Astromech
R2 Astromech
Bandit Squadron Pilot
You're basically upgrading a Z95 to an X-wing and trading another Z95 for 4 shields.
I've been looking at;
X-Wing: · Biggs Darklighter (25)
· R4-D6 (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)
X-Wing: Red Squadron Pilot (23)
R2 Astromech (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)
X-Wing: Red Squadron Pilot (23)
R2 Astromech (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Z-95 Headhunter: Tala Squadron Pilot (13)
Z-95 Headhunter: Tala Squadron Pilot (13)
PS bids all round for anti swarm / quad TLT.
What about 3 t70 xwing r2 and integrantes astromech and 2Z the boost can help you get un the doughnut hole
It is still very effective. I am like 11 and 1 with it in tournaments
Seems Pretty solid
I like it, may try it
No real target priority except the xwing since they do more dmg.
Hard to ignore 3 Bandits getting in your face.
Kill one or two, well they just earned their pay
6 ships good at blocking, clogging up lanes.
Anything with low agility will melt
Downside
Can lose one or two ships before it shoots
Predator hurts
Can be hard to get shots on high maneuverable ships, and sneaking dmg in against fel/whisper

The weak point are the T 65 X Wings. Lose any and it becomes an uphill fight etc. I have never had a problem fighting manuever able ships but I have a specific Turn 0 approach.
I always deploy my 3 debris clouds in corners preferably in my own. Then I deploy X Wings on one of the far edges in a line with 1 base width between them then deploy the Z 95's in the same line but just offset from center of the table on the X wings side.
It is a brutally effective Hammer and anvil tactics and properly slow playing 1 side and fast playing the other makes it almost impossible to slip out of arc.
