Wave 3? Jumping the gun

By mobow213, in Star Wars: Armada

Given that we knew about wave 2 for nine months and the games been out for almost 9 months. Does anyone else find it weird that they haven't announced the next wave to come?

Is it becouse wave 3 will have the new films ships and they are waiting for the movies to be released?

Unlikely. X Wing Core Set is out, that has new ships.

They announced Wave 2 too early because production was delayed. The intended release was July.

The production got delayed for Beta Core. I would imagine the third way will still have Civil war ships. (possibly an epic????) We still have yet to see any transport ships that could come with new missions, as well as other variations of ships like the MC-80 with wings. But I would say not far behind wave 3 we will see Force Awakens stuff incoming.

So wave 3 will be told to us some point around release of wave 2 if past exp with FFG games is an indicator honestly I wish wave 3 would not be spoken of until next year to give us time with wave 2. X-Wing got overwhelming with news of new wave after new wave it really kills the fun when your trying to plan for a new wave and you have not gotten the current one shipped.

I really wish FFG would do there releases twice a year on May 4th and Sept 5th every year. Each month on the first would be a new story about a ship. It would make it so much better and we could plan a lot easier for them.

Need shuttles, TIE Defender, E-wing, and some transports.

I would still like to see some news about Wave 3. Knowing Wave 2 gives us something to use, but without news of a new release tournament or other sponsored event, it means once Wave 2 releases well only be able to look forward to normal play:not a bad thing by any means, and its why I love the game, but without anouncements like that (wave 3), there isnt anything else new coming to continue to generate new interest with the game. Advertising works best when youre able to continually remind your customers of how cool your new stuff is ;)

I assume wave 3 will be Ep7 ships. This is probably why we have not heard much. As more Toys, Action Figures, and promotional stuff for Ep7 starts getting announced, i bet we see wave 7. When the flyers for black friday and new toys for christmas come out, I bet the NDA stuff gets lifted a bit, we see a new trailer with new stuff and then boom Wave 3 announcement full of Episode 7 things.

Is this the thread where I beg for the escort carrier in its filter feeding glory!?

Arquitens, Immobilizer, Pelta-class +1 or 2 others.

Arquitens, Immobilizer, Pelta-class +1 or 2 others.

Gozanti light cruiser too!

(And the Ghost, because I wish they included it in the rogues pack)

That's the problem, Imperial faction ships are easy to come to mind, but for the Rebels there aren't many go-to designs to consider!

The Liberty is probably just as in demand as the Interdictors, how soon it's coming depends on what FFG has in mind surely. This and the GR-75 are the last remaining "visible" canon designs that show up often, so perhaps them? On the other hand the Empire did lead with the Victory class, So if the Interdictor is in the next wave, will the Rebellion counter with a CC-7700 series frigate?

Hanging over all of this (hah)... is the shadow of the Executor. Yes roll your eyes, but the shadow of this ship is going to be hanging over this spaceship battle game all the way until it happens or someone corners an FFG designer and squeezes an answer out of him to the contrary. It's not going to go away until one of those two things happens.

Question is what form some of these support ships are going to take. I think it's obvious there will be something for the GR-75s to do since they can't shoot, but what? And what kind of mechanics will we expect out of the Immobilizers, since Hyperspace in this game is represented by only one objective card?

Lastly what about squadrons? What will Wave 3 give us with small craft?

Oh, if this becomes a wishlist thread of some kind, my desired wave 3:

  • MC40a Mon Calamari Light Cruiser
  • CC-9600 Frigate
  • Vindicator-Class Cruiser
  • Nebulon-B2 class Frigate
  • Heavy Fighters and Prototypes (2x TIE Phantom, TIE Defender, K-Wing, E-Wing)

Rebels steal ships. Just give them a tax on some imperial not-wedge shaped ones.

Immobilizer.

Pelta class frigate.

MC80 'Liberty'.

Lambda Shuttles

GR75 Transports

And then nothing more please. Draw a line under the game and let it be, until more canon ships appear. We don't need it being polluted by all the Legends garbage that is weighing X Wing down.

I would love for wave three

Transports

All of the X-Wing Ships esp The Tie Punisher (better bomber)

The Death Star with removable 1/4 piece so Ep 4 and 6 could be version 1 and 2.

Honestly we have no idea with the new movies and EU being built more Raiders (Disney created ships) could be on the way or a Rebel VSD if it's true that Han and Chewie are flying one around.

Some of us like craft from what is now called the "Legends" Continuity...

Besides, EU and legends stuff is slowly migrating into what's considered "Canon" anyway. Case in point, Victory Star Destroyers, Immobilizer 418s, and so on.

And once it's made that migration it can be considered for inclusion. Not before!

I sound pretty hardline on it, but I'm really not. IMO, much of the legends stuff was put together by undisciplined minds who didn't have the same creative control and guidance that the ILM team did when working on the OT. As a result, a lot of the legends stuff is just ugly. Not ugly in a good way like the Falcon, but ugly in a bad way like the HWK290 or TIE Punishingerest. Until these ships are canonised by the disney story group, who can apply that more rigid creative control to the existing legends ships and decide which ones make the cut, and which ones don't, then I don't want to just see willy-nilly all the legends stuff. The signal to noise ratio just isn't good enough, IMO.

I feel pretty confident that we are gonna see FFG creating ships for this game. I mean, more ships. The same way they created the Raider. So long as they fit thematically, and provide good gameplay, I'm all for it.

I wish we could get Assault Gunboats in either game.

I would like to see the lancer. Which we won't thanks to the raider.

The corelian gunship.

Dreadnaught.

Tie defender. Better than the xwing version please.

Uuimmmmmm. Idk. Anything. Well. Anything but gungans. No gungans or ragequit tableflip. Ijs

I kinda suspect a Rebels wave will be either wave 3 or 4. I just hope that if it is wave 4 that we get the Dreadnaught now instead of having it potentially slip out from being a ship that may be added with the focus of the tie in shows, movies, and the sequel trilogy.

Sound like you are talking about the Raider...

The Raider is a uninsprired and pretty stupid design, I would take a lancer frigate over it anyday.

I will point out that Disney have to actually sign off every ship and card produced in X-Wing before FFG can release them, so stuff like the Punisher, HWK etc have been approved. Doesn't make them canon, but kind of invalidates this statement:

" ....disney story group, who can apply that more rigid creative control to the existing legends ships and decide which ones make the cut, and which ones don't, then I don't want to just see willy-nilly all the legends stuff."

They have all already made the cut for public consumption in Disneys eyes, like it or not. They just aren't part of their new canon.

Lancer? Lancer...

Oh, you mean the space dong!
