Copilot Action and Unskilled Assistance

By RebelDave, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

While there is a Copilot Action to reduce the Pilots difficulty, can you (and would you allow) someone to provide Unskilled assistance to the Pilot to give him a Boost dice?

Equally.... would you allow an NPC droid to do the same thing?

(So far, on that one, ive said no, as the astromech cannot plug into those systems without a Droid Socket, otherwise they basically get a free autopilot)

Cheers

I would allow a Copilot action and an Assist maneuver to give the pilot a Boost die. Unskilled Assistance is only for narrative play, not for structured (turn-based) play.

NPC Astromechs have their own function. Stay On Target recommends that NPC astromechs do not get their own initiative slot, but instead are always considered to be performing the Assist maneuver for one of the Pilot's skill checks every turn. Additionally, it outlines some options you can utilize when rolling Advantage or Triumph on such rolls. (Edit...it's a sidebar on page 73, Stay On Target)

You could let them do the assist maneuver. It would be the GMs call, but it's not mechanically against the rules, and the Co-Pilot is burning their action and a maneuver to do it. Allowing a NPC droid would be the GMs call imo, but it also isn't technically against the rules.

According to Stay on Target, an Astromech droid in an Astromech socket gives a boost die to any one action the pilot takes each round (at least I think that's what it said, I'm too lazy to get up and check right now).
